35 Hilarious Examples Of People Who Thought AI-Generated Photos Were Real
From chatbots and virtual assistants to smart homes and autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we live and work.
Content creation is one of the areas that have been impacted the most. Folks use AI to make poems and even entire song covers, where algorithms emulate the vocals of famous artists. Not to mention those 'Harry Potter by Balenciaga' type of videos.
Some of these shenanigans can be quite convincing, too. So in an attempt to remind you to stay vigilant, we introduce the Facebook group 'People who think AI generated photos are real.' More specifically, the screenshots they collected of unsuspecting individuals falling for the fabrications.
In this day and age, it's better to be safe online than sorry.

We managed to get in touch with the administrators and moderators of 'People who think AI generated photos are real' and they agreed to tell us more about their group.
"The biggest issues we deal with are people trying to go against the community guidelines and trying to post images that contain nudity and aggression towards specific individuals," the team explained to Bored Panda.

The lighting is horrible, one steering wheel looks malformed, the tap doesn't even pour into the bathtub, yet people still fall for this
Because of this, the group is set to approve-only posting, meaning that the team manually greenlights posts that appear on its feed, preventing repetitive or irrelevant content.

You could make this guitar a reality though, using a clear resin with the flowers inside to create the guitar body. (and gdi now I'm tempted even though I have no idea how to build the rest of a guitar...)

Came here to say that that guitar is perfectly feasible to make. There will templates out there as pdfs to download as to where to fix the neck, pickups, bridge etc. If you made it in two halves you could lay out the wiring and internals, put the flowers in, then pour the second layer on top? If I was getting really creative, I'd run an EL (Electronic light) system to have the flowers back-lit when it's plugged in.

For instance, the admins and mods of the group said that "AI hasn't been able to master the human form properly. There are often missing or extra ears, fingers, and entire arms."

Another thing that the folks behind 'People who think AI-generated photos are real' look for when analyzing an image is written language. "AI art struggles with letters and often ends up being a jumbled mess!" they said.
"Quite often, there will also be other inconsistencies in the image, such as a child holding up a picture that turns into their t-shirt, or it will look like a cross between a photograph and a painting."

I think something like this is a great use of AI. You have an idea for a design but lack the skills to photoshop it so you use AI to create a mocked up image. That can then be provided to a designer to use as a starting point to create an actual physical item.

Do you really want that? Have you taken a good look at those glass cages? There is a pillow on it so there is apparently no space between the mattress and the glass lid. So you are not actually lying on that mattress but on glass. A very unrealistic design.

The white feathers on it's face are wrong. Macaws like this have white skin on their cheeks and possibly a couple of lines of feathers. The macaw portrayed is a hybrid, and these type of birds are called "harlequins" , depending on what crossbreed they are the colors of the feathers and the face feathering color can vary. Yes, some seem to believe they are commenting on real things, but "wow" or "I want this" or "this looks fantastic" could easily be said about AI images too. Mostly fun images, though. Or freaky. When you try to count fingers or look at background characters' faces...

I was just about to post a similar comment. Just because someone admires the picture and thinks it's a great idea doesn't mean they assume it's real. I'm in a "goth home decor" group and they frequently post AI images. It's just a way to visualize an idea most of the time.

I agree to the poster, who thinks that most people are just commenting on the asthetics or ideas of the pictures. Just because someone thinks the shoe sushi looks delicious, doesn‘t mean they don‘t realize it‘s not real. Not that it matters anyway. Some of the ideas shared are pretty neat and pretty. Some are weird, some don‘t even look real.

Quite strange that there is such a hype about photos made with AI. There used to be Photoshop (apparently a forgotten art) and a skilled artist could perform many manipulations with it. There were sites that only contained photos made with Photoshop - one could even win prizes there. A good Photoshop artist could create photos that looked much more realistic than what AI can currently do. By the way: before Photoshop, a photographer could actually change photos. Darkroom retouching was actually easy for many photographers.
