The United States government has sent out stimulus checks to some residents to help keep them afloat during the coronavirus quarantine. It’s all some people are talking about, so it’s no wonder that these checks have become the focus of a lot of jokes on the internet.
The checks are each worth 1,200 dollars and internet users are joking about how they’re already planning to buy TVs, laptops, and spend the money as soon as they can. While others are poking fun at the fact that it’s now the IRS sending them money, instead of the other way around.
“We can confirm that payments are beginning to arrive in some Americans’ accounts," a senior Treasury official told ABC News. Scroll down for the best stimulus check jokes that Bored Panda has compiled, upvote your faves, and let us know in the comments what you’re going to do with your check if you live in the US, dear Pandas. And read on for Bored Panda's interview with financial expert Sam Dogen, founder of the Financial Samurai blog, about stimulus checks and how much they'll help Americans out.

Yuppp. I'm in South Carolina in the cheapest possible off campus housing so the stimulus check will last me... 3 months? If I skimp on groceries. But I recognize that for anyone living anywhere else, this money isn't going to do jack sh-t and I'm angry for you guys too
F that check. What is 1200 when trump, his son in law and family, and some of his rich friend stand the chance of getting over a million $$. Wake up America. It's time we the people start getting a bigger slice of the pie.

Massachusetts has gotten soooo expensive as well! Monopolies on cable companies etc. Keeps prices HIGH!
They should stop all their checks until something is passed. They are suppose to be working for us but they are not doing their job so therefore they should not be paid !!

Load More Replies...Not everybody thinks its a joke and many people appreciate this money and use it to help pay off bills or get caught up with bills.
Of course it's better than having nothing. It's still a joke when compared to most essential bills. It's not 1200 per month - it's 1200 FOR ALL THE PANDEMIC. Believe everyone when I say: it won't be over in 4 weeks. (in Germany, you at least get monthly the living-minimum granted, which is pretty low but it's monthly and they pay for health-insurance and rent and your gas-bills. Small businesses got instant-help-money up to 15000 € to help keep the running business-costs manageable. It's not helpful for everyone, and it's not a huge lot - some will still lose their business. But it's not f*** 1200 $ to last you over the course of the pandemic)

I think people that are making fun of the stimulus Are pretty sorry some people need that money not everybody has money $1200 is a lot of money to some people
Already got mine and it paid my property tax to keep Nevada from taking it. Then put a months worth of food in the house. And finally paid my car payment.
Not everyone thinks its a joke and many appreciate receiving this. We can use it to pay on bills and or pay some off. Ppl better realize that the government didnt have to give us anything.
Wow. That is a very sad view of your government. "They don't have to give you anything - they could've instead just let you rot". Well - true, of course. But deeply saddening.

"So long as Americans are spending the money, that helps stimulate and support the economy. Although saving money is good, saving money actually doesn’t do much in the short run to help the economy. In the long run, maybe it helps by creating more financially secure people to not become a burden," Dogen from the Financial Samurai told us.
"I believe everything is rational. If people want to use their money to spend on TVs and other things, its because they’ve got their basics already taken care of. Here’s how millionaires are spending their checks."
Trump only agreed to the $1200 because it's an election year.
They're actually putting his name on the checks. He wants people to think they're from him. It's like the postcard with "Donald Trump's Coronavirrus Tips" a couple of weeks ago. What an asshat.

And he had no problem giving his wealthy supporters big tax breaks, millions of dollars worth.

If the military budget was lowered, there would be enough money to make us all millionaires... there's money stashed all over the Federal government.

Your "check" comes with tRump's name on it ... just like his "charity" ... he got others to give him money then put his name on the checks like it was his money to give. The only exception with his charity and the stimulus check, he usually paid himself.
I bet the giant cheques the corporations got had giant pictures of Trump on.

Yes, but were you ever provided anything by the government before? Usually it just went into the government's slush fund, and to take us down, by funneling it to Iran, China, United Nations, bailing out bankers. Think of what this man is doing. He is finishing what JFK started.
Load More Replies...People bought it with Bush. Same ppl still voting. Let's see how it goes this time
There are so many politicians who have stolen from tax money, or other areas of the budget, there's actually no excuse for the Fed going further into debt. We're being given part of what's owed to us. Trump should also hunt down was what stolen by politicians and *poof* budget balanced.
Good news, Kristina. Trump has been doing that in the background, while distracting MSM to keep them busy. Look up his executive orders to freeze bank accounts of those who've stolen from us. Look at all the CEOs that have resigned from major companies, and from our govt. It is all working with military to get it done. You can find a lot of info on qmap.pub. God bless you.
Load More Replies...This basic point seems to be far beyond the conception of most people: there's no such thing as a free lunch - someone is paying: it's being tacked onto the national debt. Who pays when the US national debt has to be serviced (meaning some payments have to be made that the govt. owes)? All US taxpayers, us. It isn't 'free money'.
Exactly. You paid taxes so the government can use that money to do stuff for the country. Like paving streets and paying schools and paying for water-cleaning and federal agencies (like for example the CDC). You already PAID for that stuff, and it is not "handouts" or "a gift" if the goverment does those things for you. Of course one can argue that nobody paid taxes so one day the President could give every citizen 1200$, but I'll wager that it's probably a lot more useful than, for example, buying a tank or a submarine or guns for the military. It's actually the Government's JOB to protect its people, but somewhere along the long line of presidents (and I'm not excluding the Democratic ones), that job-description got muddled and eventually, lost.

That’s funny because the only check I got was the first one and that was when Trump was in office since Biden’s been in office I haven’t got s**t so I missing out on three stimulus checks that they’re trying to say I have to have a 1040 form now because I didn’t have no income it’s a bunch of bureaucratic bullshit wake up people!
And since our government has so much huge debt after the "tax breaks" given to corporation and the rich, we the people will be PAYING BACK THIS MONEY for the rest of our lives! And paying taxes on this $1,200.00. And people think the monster-in-chief "cares about us" and is doing this to "help us?" UNBELIEVABLE.
Dogen believes that 1,200 dollars per person should help individuals for at least a month. "If you add on the extra 600 dollars a month in unemployment benefits, that’s a decent amount of money," he said.
"For example, in California, you can get 4,200 dollars a month in unemployment benefits now. And then if you add on another 1,200, that’s 5,600 dollars. It’s really the added unemployment benefits that will really help those who have lost their jobs," Dogen pointed out.
well it's not for fun, it's for taking care of the bills while you can't work and that is all.
It isn't a stimulus check. You are get back a portion of your tax dollars as an Economic Impact Support check because the government had to shut down the economy and it's to help you make ends meet and for businesses to be able to make payroll without going under. If you don't want it give it to charity or help family members that are out of work.
I recommend coming to Norway. Here tax authorities help you get a higher tax return. Quite a shock if you paid taxes before in another country...
An American here, I do wish we had something like the Norwegian-style healthcare system instead of our bizarre/horrible system. That being said, in the US the IRS also publishes the info on ways to reduce your tax burden, and you can easily apply that knowledge here when you file online through the websites we have for that, or if you go to a tax preparer. Nobody's hiding info from us on ways we can legally reduce our taxes.

The BBC reports that President Donald Trump’s name will be printed on the paper checks that will be sent out to financially-struggling Americans. This is the very first time that a US president’s name will show up on a federal government handout.
Not surprisingly, some are worried that this decision might delay checks arriving. The president denied that there will be a delay, as did the Treasury Department. However, two senior IRS officials told the Washington Post that the first batch of checks might arrive slower because of this.

"You are getting your money late because the President thinks it is more important that his name be on the cheque than that you are able to pay your bills on time," Democratic Senator Brian Schatz shared his opinion on Twitter.
The stimulus checks are part of a 2 trillion (that’s right, trillion) dollar relief package that will help out more than 80 million US citizens. And Americans need it now more than ever. Around 16 million people lost their jobs in the US just in the past month and the situation may get worse before it gets better.
