This Island Hasn’t Been Touched By Modern Civilization For 55,000 Years, And Here’s Why You Don’t Want To Visit It
Humans were always eager to explore unfamiliar lands and cultures. However, one of the Indian tribes living on an isolated island no one dares or has a right to visit.
North Sentinel Island, one of the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean, is forbidden to visit because it is inhabited by a hostile Sentinelese tribe. This tribe resists all contact with outsiders and aggressively attacks anyone who dares to come near the Sentinel Island. However, visiting this place may be dangerous not just for curious travelers. The Sentinelese are not immune to modern diseases, so contact with outsiders could tragically wipe out the whole tribe.
The Indian government was eager to make contact with the Sentinelese people. The first and probably the only friendly contact was established in 1967 by scholar T.N. Pandit who arrived at the island bearing coconuts and other gifts in hopes to win the tribe’s trust. For the first time, islanders greeted visitors without bows.
However, soon after this expedition, officials decided to stop all other missions. They concluded that the tribe is healthy and thriving without any intervention of modern civilization.
It’s hard to say if contact with this mysterious tribe will ever be made again. As for now, it seems that the tribe is better off without anyone’s interference. Watch the video to know more interesting facts.

Share on FacebookWell, I think they should remain uncontacted. Things on this side of the fence are pretty s****y atm
Anthropologists the world over must salivate at the thought of studying these people, but I aggree that leaving them alone is the right thing to do.
Load More Replies...I agree they should be left alone but doesn’t make sense to say they are hostile and aggressively attack anyone if there was friendly contact in 1991 and nobody has gone back since...
Load More Replies...well I think if we've not found out how they live after 60,000 years, time probably won't tell us, best leave alone I say. i reckon there's probably a lot of people thinking 'wish I had an island like that...'
It's actually really awesome to think there're still places/a place like that, completely untouched by the rest of the world. "Civilized" world has been interfering with indigenous tribes around the globe, changing their lifestyle for better or for worse and as a result many unique cultures are dying out. I stumbled upon these amazing site recently and the stories of a lot of peoples on made me feel both awe and sadness https://www.jimmynelson.com/peoples-places . So in a way it's reassuring to know there's something left completely intact. Like a little miracle...if there can be one, there can be more miracles too, right?:)
I am glad they are left in peace, but at the same time i am really curious about their way of life. This is so unique.
I'm headed there next week with my Boomstick and plan to be a strict but merciful King.
How cool, you'll end up marrying your Pocahontas and talking to trees, on drugs.
Load More Replies...also, why did they send Murray from Flight of the Conchords as the first contact?
I think who cares bout this tribe let go exploring just bring some guns so we can protect ourselves
Don't tell Robert De Niro about this island. He already scammed the people of Barbuda out of their land. https://theintercept.com/2018/01/23/robert-de-niro-barbuda-hotel-hurricane-irma/
Watch the bowman in some pixs. A plane over the Amazon had a similar encounter. Leave-the-...369859.jpg
Too bad the Native Americans weren't as hostile right at the beginning.
I'm a little sceptical about the 55,000 year thing. With population between 50 and 400 that's a hell of a lot of inbreeding. Also find it hard to believe that the British Raj would be run off by bows and arrows. They would have civilized them to extinction.
yeah. this whole thing is sketchy. i cant find one piece of evidence that they are untouched for 60,000 years. just a bunch of headlines that say so. what a sound theory....
Load More Replies..."Untouched by modern civilization for 55,000 years"?? Was modern civilization around 55000 years ago, and were they visited prior to that?
Not 56000 years ago. That would be ridiculous. 55000 years ago exactly.
Load More Replies...Okay.. I guess I'm confused, how is it untouched yet there's a Picture of a guy handing these people a Football? There are videos flying right over the tribe and they have pictures and drawings of ships visiting? We know how long 60,000 years is right?
I am happy this story was shared, although no one should visit this place. I discovered it by accident several years ago when i was exploring google maps and found this island covered in trees with a shipwreck next to it. I was intrigued and found out about this island which look uninhabited. Check google maps for the shipwreck, it's pretty cool.
I'll start with you, get off the internet and go to some conspiracy conventions.
