I was a nanny for 5 years. I worked so hard with the 9 yo f, and 5 y/o m. But, in the end their clueless parents (Harvest and MIT educated!), couldn't be coached to teach their kids basic social skills. Such as please and thank you, hello - eye , contact, clean up after yourself, that not everything is an instant reward. All the things that NICE people do! When the 11 year old was still wetting the bed and his twice weekly psychiatrist asked me if I had anything to contribute she was embarrassed as she was totally unaware he struggled with it! I'd reached my limit as parents wouldn't even toilet him before they turned in as well as during the night. When the pubescent older child became hostile I threw in the towel and shake my head over the crime over two well healed, extremely intelligent people couldn't be bothered to instill rudimentary social skills in these needy juveniles
