If I had to describe cats in one word, that word would definitely be mysterious. I mean, one minute they're curling up next to you and purring, and the other - running off to explore who knows what. So there's is definitely no arguing with the fact that cats' lives are full of mystery and mischief. Which is why black and white photography suits the mysterious feline friends of ours just perfectly.
Below, Bored Panda has put together a list of stunning black and white photos of cats. The photos are both mysterious and full of mischief, just like the cats are themselves. Keep on scrolling to take a look and don't forget to vote for your favorites.

I first saw nothing because I saw the photo in my phone with the app haha. The eyes were hidden by thumb.
We have two black girls babies and this is tends to be the result of photographing them . That said - SUPER inspiration for a cross stitch project! ^_^
"We are Siamese if you please...we are siamese if you don't please..."
We're two lean, mean killing machines. But if you treat us right, our motors purr all night.
Black cats are beautiful. And this pair are the definition of "synchronicity".
This is so captivating! Love that there r 2 of them and they have the same pose
Talk to the shadow. It knows what I am thinking. Only the Shadow knows what I am thinking.
Look deep into my eyes ... soon I will be ruling the world ... listen to the soft gentle sound of my purrrr ...
1, 2, Kitty's coming for you... 3, 4, better lock your door (from the inside coz it'll just play with the key) 5, 6, get a bag of tricks 7, 8, so you can stay up late (and play with them) 9, 10 you'll never sleep again (whereas they will sleep all day)
Edgar Allan Poe could make your hair stand on end describing this one!
(augmented voice) yeah and then (voice cracks)...and then the red dot showed up...I must have chased that thing for hours...never caught the bugger...
Load More Replies...Ok, let the artist proove it is a real cat in a real setting and not a drawing.
This photo belongs to Alicia Rius and the original photo isn't B&W -_-
Breeders who breed these poor creatures should be given a high five with a chair in their damned faces for messing with Mother Nature.
Not sure why, they're very sweet tempered cats, they just don't have any hair. If any other cat was to lose its hair it would look the same
Load More Replies...Or that scene in The Never Ending Story when we see the NOTHING in the cave.
Load More Replies...HEY, Human! Did you know that the neighbours are growing catnip in their garden? 😂😂😂
I totally agree with you Aly. I am writing a story about one named Freya. I really hate how people are so superstitious and mean to them.
Load More Replies...I can almost hear the evil chuckle, the intent to conquer the world... after the next dish of tuna has been delivered.
My pretty Ambie-girl! :) She's not as pathetic as she looks like the picture; she could have jumped up and gone around a corner to get inside.
memory, not a sound in the pavement. has the moon lost her memory? she is smiling alone...
Because of the lighting, this looks like cat was superimposed on the picture.
I like this photo because of the shadows in combination with the black cat
This makes me think of an old black and white movie I saw when I was a little girl called "The Cat Creeps." I don't remember much of it except that it was a good thriller.
I had a black and white cat named Binx. He was so sweet!
Load More Replies...These photos are breath-takingly beautiful! I love the composition, the contrast, everything. Beautiful photos of beautiful cats.
It's an Oriental Shorthair! I have two. One looks like a sleek, jet-black incarnation of Bastet.
My faves are #5, #32 and #45. I think #32 describes the cat as the lone explorer, the one who finds trouble by means of curiosity. #45 expresses the watchfulness cats often display. They might sleep a lot, but they are very attuned to the world around them. In spite of their mysterious nature, cats don't pretend to be anything more than what they are. <3
