Instead of trying to restore the old look, Tatiane Freitas repairs broken furniture with translucent acrylic. The ongoing series are titled “My Old New Chair” and the result creates a captivating optical illusion.
Tatiane’s method is similar to the Japanese kintsugi (art of repairing broken pottery with various materials, including gold, silver, or platinum). She treats the breakage, but also includes it as part of an object, rather than simply disguising it.
One Tatiane’s piece even got included in the Clairvoyance exhibition at Guy Hepner in New York.

Nice idea but I don't thank it pans out very well. Patching them in a contrasting wood with duplicating the original style might be more interesting.

Most are saying the artist should've duplicated the wood designs..well, that's cool. But in my opinion, I think it's better this way as I see as it as a furniture morphing into it's modern version, yknw, it's like we're witnessing the stage in the process where it is slowly turning into its contemporary version. And I think that's pretty awesome.

Good idea but badly executed due to the acrylic being of no style. It should mirror the original design as this looks like it was cobbled together in an hour.
Realization of prosthetics
Ok, bordpanda....every article has a Google ad right on top of the words. It won't x away but asks me why I don't want to see the ad and "can't read the article" is not an option response. I am using an iPad, a common device that should be able to read your articles with ease. :-(

Artist does stuff that sounds good on paper and the result is shit. Combining transparent plastic with wood diminishes the qualities of both these materials.

Simple Definition of art. : something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings. I think every furniture designer is an artist. I know it's no Picasso but art is art.
