A Mississippi mother decided to turn her two teenage sons in to the police after learning they were being searched for after firing shots at an officer.
A Holly Springs police officer said on Tuesday (April 2) that he attempted to pull over a red Kia Forte driving erratically with no headlights on Interstate 22 towards Memphis.
According to the police, at least two shots were fired from the suspects’ vehicle after a brief pursuit.
“It was dangerous for the officers and any other pedestrians and anyone that was on that interstate at the time. That was a very dangerous situation,” Holly Springs Police Chief Darryl Bowens said.

A Marshall County sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle where the suspects ran into the woods, WMC reports.
Following the incident, officers put in an alert with photos of the two men, aged 17 and 18, hoping someone would recognize them.
The person who knew them the most eventually did. It took less than 24 hours for the mother to turn her teenage sons in to the police after seeing them on the news.
“I was like, ‘Are you serious? Oh, hell no.’ I got up, and I asked questions,” the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.
“I don’t play no games with them. If you want to do the crime, you gotta do the time,” she said

She added: “I don’t play no games with them. If you want to do the crime, you gotta do the time— Plain and simple.”
She also described seeing her children associated with a crime as “very shocking.”
“My child does not get in trouble. He don’t bother nobody. They don’t do nothing. All they do is play games. This is very new. This is very shocking.”

Her sons reportedly insisted that they were innocent.
Both of them have been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer. Their names were not released by the Holly Springs Police Department.
Furthermore, an additional person of interest in the case has reportedly been questioned but not charged.
People congratulated the mother for her integrity
Now that's what a real parent does. None of this "but he's such a good boy!" garbage. Good boys don't shoot at Anyone, let alone the cops.
I really hope that the picture in the article showing a reporter holding a mic up to a woman isn’t the real picture and just some randomly used pic for the article 🤣 “I was like, ‘Are you serious? Oh, hell no.’ I got up, and I asked questions,” the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.”
Who knows why they've fallen onto the wrong path suddenly but with a mother like that I like to think there's hope for them. She's clearly making sure they know that actions have consequences.
They most likely did not suddenly fall onto the wrong path. The mother genuinely didn’t know or she chose to close her eyes as so many other parents of lost children… They made their choice by firing at police officers, i can imagine that will be a lot of years in prison in usa. Deserved years in jail

While I applaud this, I also hope even more that they have solid evidence because we all know what can happen in custody if it's one of their own being shot at.
That's a bit of a double edged sword here ... if the law, the police as institution as well as the policepeople you actually deal with are free from any prejudice, unfair treatment based on religion, ethnic and the whole ordeal of irrelevantities, and a reasonable sentence is to be expected - yeah, Mom, turn them in, cos they're dumb AND because it's criminal and dangerous. If, OTOH, the police, the law, the judges and juries and so forth, are known to be racist, sexist or any of that, I'd have doubts that a reasonable sentence will be the result, but would expect them to spend a handful years behind bars. Which may be a bit over the top, considering that, while clearly dangerous and stupid, nobody was hurt.
Doing a handful of years behind bars is a slap on the wrist for shooting at somebody. They could have very easily killed or severely injured not just the cops but an innocent bystander.

"“My child does not get in trouble. He don’t bother nobody. They don’t do nothing. All they do is play games. This is very new. This is very shocking.”" ------ This is BS. Your kids have obviously been doing stuff like this for some time now. This is just the first time they were caught. No one goes from zero to shooting at police over a traffic stop. I hope they throw away the key.
Good for mom, but she better watch out when the boys get out of jail
