Today we’d like for you to meet the artist Mahnaz Yazdani. Mahnaz’s deep and meaningful work often portrays society's problems in surrealistic illustrations that tend to show how everyday people (just like us) suffer from things that seemingly the rest of our modern society refuses to acknowledge more often than not.

One could say we probably have gotten used to the said problems just because we are always surrounded by them, so much that we don't even notice them anymore. However, things such as war, global pandemic, and problems revolving around our mental health aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

All in all, Yazdani’s work might give you a thought or two regarding the way we live currently.

Bored Panda also reached out to the artist to find out a little bit more about her and her work.

"I am a storyteller who tells most of her stories in her comics and animations. I started my art journey as an animator and cartoonist twenty years ago. My focus was on making animation for years. Since 2015, I have been professionally drawing editorial cartoons. I had so many stories in my mind waiting to be created, but animating all of them needed lots of years, so I chose comic style to tell my stories faster."

I really like this one. Sharing ideas and love being where they all intersect. Very cute.

"Maybe the main characteristic of mine has led me to create such art: a humoristic outlook and thinking about the feelings of other people, for example, how does a kid feel under bombardment. Those help me to create a humorous story and then tell it in the shape of a comic, cartoon, or animation."

So beautifully illustrated, yet so devistately accurate and confronting. Currently we are being told to take our empty plastic bags back to our house, because the seahorses are dying.

It's saying that only those from privilege (represented here by the kids flying in on dollars) have access to knowledge (the book fortress). The less privileged are locked out.

Google translation of her post on Instagram: For my mother and aunts ... My mother and aunts spent many years of their lives behind the carpet, from childhood to the years they experienced motherhood. The weavers built a ladder to bring themselves and their families to what they are now and will be. I'm proud of having such strong women in my life. Women who, believing in better tomorrows, bought the hardest and continue to buy ... Your hard-working hands are the most beautiful hands ....

We do need to consume less drinking water, but somehow I don't think this will solve this problem.

11 companies use roughly 70% of our water resources. Telling households to use less is a distraction from the corporations causing the problems.

A lot of people are saying to not waste water, which is good advice, but I think the point of the illustration is that most of us are lucky things are convenient for us. A clean apartment, a flat screen TV and all the water we want with the turn of a faucet handle, instead of getting in line for as much water we can only carry. For some people in the world, this is their only option. Tap water, and other luxuries, is a convenience that most of us in this comment section forget. So, saving water can help make you feel better, but realizing to appreciate the things we have is another.

Don't leave the tap open because you're going to waste water which is cherished by others from its rarity

You know the vast majority of our water use is in agriculture (70% they claim, it's actually higher!). Of that most of it is used for meat production. If you really want to get water under control then eat less meat.

When I am feeling poorly about my life and all the things I don’t have….this is one of the things I remember to thank God for, as much as possible - clean, running, free water practically everywhere I look, anytime I want it. There are children in third-world countries who have to trudge for MILES in devastating heat daily, only to collect as much water as they can carry, then turn around and haul it all the way back home. The worst part is that many times, although they must drink it to live, the water they work so hard for contains countless pathogens - bacteria, viruses, and parasites that cause life-threatening illnesses such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery, etc. So….even though they know it will almost definitely make them very sick, they also know that they must drink it, or die of dehydration. Most toilet water here in the States would be a marked improvement for people from places we can’t even begin to imagine the horror of daily life in. I am grateful, every day, for water.

The point is that we waste an abundance of water while watching others around the world suffering through droughts. Remember, what goes around, comes around, eventually.

At least water is an infinite resource. If you waste water, you're not actually wasting water, you're just giving yourself a bigger water bill. You're rich? Waste away.

Devastating! It's hard to get all this wasted water to where it should be. We bathe in swimming size tubs as others could suffice with at least 5 gallons a day.

We need to keep our phones for as long as possible as and example because of the amount of water it takes to make them. In other words don't waste water as often as possible. No just the consumer but the production as well

Bottling water is a big problem. All the water that should be flowing in rivers and water sources is at every single Walmart, target, gas station, dollar tree, just sitting on pallets for money instead of investing in water treatment for all

Literally happened to a friend. Her house was older and NOT in a flood zone. Developer put in condos that caused her property to periodically flood when it rained. It was loveable until hurricane Irma came through and her house got 4 ft of water in it. No flood insurance (because again, NOT IN A FLOOD ZONE), but homeowner's insurance refused to pay because it was a flood event. Turns out the permits for the condos were illegally issued because it was pretty clear what works happen to the properties on the downward slope of the ground they built up to build the condos, bus sure couldn't find an attorney to take the case to sue the county and the contractor for the damage.
