Lying is never a good idea. Sooner or later, the truth always comes out. And if you're spreading lies on social media, then there's a good chance that you'll be caught red-handed sooner than you expected. Because when you lie on the internet, you're lying to the world, and there's always somebody out there who's willing to call your bluff.
Take a look at this list full of funny lies of attention seekers to see what we mean. Compiled by Bored Panda, the white lie examples below serve as an important reminder that if you really must insist on pathological lying, either do it well or don't do it at all. Don't forget to vote for the funniest fibber!
UPDATE: We recreated some of the images because the original versions were pretty bad quality. That's why some of them have the same blurred profile pics. But as far as we know, all of the actual compulsive lying stories are real.

Seriously, f**k these people. You can share art that you like, but give credit! Also, this is the internet, you probably aren't going to get away with things like this.

And you had to choose a picture that included one of the most recognizably Australian landmarks in it!?
I think she said "we WOULD", which means they didn't yet. She didnt intend the photo as proof. Just messed up the photo. Unless her English is bad
But she says they would lock a padlock to "this very bridge"- saying the bridge was in Paris, unless she was plannning to take the bridge in Sidney with her to Paris lol
Load More Replies...Hahah. If you squint very hard while wearing a beret
Load More Replies...yeah maybe she is a time traveller, and in 2020 french will build a new opera house, after ww III
Load More Replies...How dumb do you have to be to say that you've put a padlock on a bridge in Paris, when clearly, you can see the bloody Sydney Opera House in the background? You're not fooling us!
LOL. How does she not know that's the Sidney Opera House in the background?!
Getting caught is one thing, but getting caught due to your stupidity is a whole other can o' cats.
I want to know what the person responds with, does that exist some where?
Seriously, they couldn't find an angle to take that shot without the opera house behind
Yes it's Australia. But that's not even a bridge, maybe the Harbour Bridge, a far cry from the centuries old Parisian bridge.
That picture is of the Sydney opera house but the padlock bridge is in Paris.
They do it on other bridges now too. There was a popular one in Melbourne, but they had to remove the padlocks for safety reasons.
Load More Replies...It's implied that the picture is hers and that it happened, so using a picture of the wrong continent likely means that she's using someone else's picture, and that it probably didn't happen.

Not sure what the hubbub would be about adults taking a sexuality class a way...they are over 18 in college, and the class is not mandatory, so they are choosing to take a sexuality class. Who cares?

Sarah Mark Cleverley, just because she is in a car, doesn't mean that she didn't "just get up". Some people do just get out of bed and have to quickly drive off somewhere.

Funny but painful to read. Makes you really wonder about the liars. And hopefully none of them are in my life.
Many of these are funny, but the underlying reality is very sad. Look at elections in Europe and America...people speak of the "hidden" or "silent" majority, ignore facts, believe what they want to believe, blame media for reporting biased, and consider whatever they find on social media true, as long as it fits their world view. Yes, this has been always the case when a bunch of friends meet at a bar and have a few drinks, but now it is global, and it does have impact. Add a few chatbots, social media analytics, and media strategists, and you can truly influence masses. I am very concerned where this will lead.
It is funny cause 99% of these images are fake and is generated with a fake message generator
Gey your s**t straight. Talking about liars. Check the profile pics of the chats you relate, always the same ones coming back. You made all this up. F*****g liars talking about liars. UNSUSCRIBED
Really pathetic, what we have stooped to. Do you suppose that the lying media will get a clue sometime soon? Maybe? Hopefully?
number 17 doesnt make sense. How can someone comment hrs ago when it was just posted minutes before
I feel more and more that this entire story is part of the same b******t they are trying to point out! Haha
