Load More Replies...Did this many years ago with wrapping paper when we couldnt afford the tree, we still woke up that morning as a family and the kids still had fun. He looks happy so I say WINNER!
Kiddo looks happy so I say big win! Plus easy decoration clean up.
I love the way the cat is hugging his hooman - the cat I had as a kid did exactly the same thing to me. She was a good cat.
One year when my kids were little we didn't have a tree or any money to get one so we made one by putting lights on the wall in the shape of a tree. The kids thought it was great.
I feel like, from the blue tape, that they plan on painting that wall later.
Oh well, you had the blue painters tape laying around since you never got around to painting over Junior's 'wall art'... I get it.
Why do you let him write on the wall? Where the eff are his pants? THOSE things you can change!
Lol you can't be serious, most kids hate clothes and he's still a toddler not I'll at all!

Everyone has the right to decorate as they wish , or, not at all. As hard as I tried , I couldn't figure out the timer for the wreath on the front door . I brought the wreath in & hung it over the fireplace so I wouldn't have to brave the cold to plug it in & unplug it. First Christmas since husband died. I've got a lot to learn
I'm sure you're doing the best you can.., sorry for your loss.
Thanks ,Jenn. I'm learning new skills for sure. I just fixed a broken spring loaded cabinet door , trimmed shrubs , & learned to use an extension ladder . I'm ,also, working with light weights, because a lot of new things are heavier than I've been used to .
I remember my first Christmas alone. I ignored it. Even shut the phone off. Nancy - you are amazing. I commend you for having the strength and heart to "do Christmas". I am so sorry for you loss and how raw everything is during this season. You have support from strangers. Especially me!! I will light a candle for you tonight. :D
There are so many kind people that I know or have read online . My family isn't close , but, friends include me , I wasn't alone at Thanksgiving , &, won't be for Christmas dinner either . I feel blessed ! I have my tree up because it carries handmade ornaments from my children , as well handmade ones from friends over the years. They are comforting to look at. Myxomatosis , I'm sorry your grief so overwhelmed you . What I miss in quiet house the most is the laughter & , of course, the sharing . I hope you are doing better. Life is perfect & I can accept that.
Life isn't perfect
And learn you shall. Thankfully that process is often somewhat cathartic. I hope it gets easier for you. *hug*
Nancy E, I'm sorry for your loss. and do sympathize This will be my first Christmas without my husband as well. For me, their is nothing to celebrate, not this year anyway...
Nancy, Laura and anyone that faces a Christmas without a loved one that passed away, so sorry for your loss and I'll think of you guys this Christmas. Also best wishes for the new year. Hope it will bring some peace and light. Hugs.
Laura , celebrate the kindness of others & gratefully accept it . We all suffer grief in different ways & that's OK. I was a hospice nurse for 6 years & dealt with a lot of families . We will get through this , &, we'll be stronger because of it . Please don't be alone !
Lost my husband last year the day after Thanksgiving when normally we'd have put up our decor. I didn't do a think last year and have no plans for this one either. Sorry to have you in the 'widows' club, it sucks.
The less real trees, plastic junk for in the yard and lights people buy, the better for our planet. Christmas surely is one of the most garbage-producing and energy-wasting time of the year...
Gee, you must be a BLAST at parties.
Just saying, Christmas trees are actually GREAT for our environment. They come from Christmas tree farms, which means they were grown to be cut down. Meanwhile, while they were still alive, they are benefitting the environment. Don't shame christmas trees!!
How did you manage to write that comment from off the grid in a self sustaining log cabin devoid of anything you didn't grow or make yourself?
Is "A Dose Of Reality" Ted Kaczynski ?
LOL< uptight people will always complain about something
"A dose of reality" truly =)
Dose of reality? Bitter much?
Same goes for Halloween. ♥
Actually, the demand for more trees (for example, Christmas trees or trees used for paper) increases the amount of green on our planet.
Those people are pure geniuses! They ain't lazy, they are surviving!
After 27 years in retail, I do not decorate for any holiday.
Oh man, I can't even imagine. Can I guess your opinion of xmas music?
Um...ok. Thanks for sharing.
It drives my mother batty that I will not decorate for Christmas. I'm lazy, and do not want to put it all up, take it all down, and find a place to store it all. This year she tried to give me decorations and I refused them. She got upset and I countered with "I'm sorry, but my house, my rules". My 16 year old self was laughing maniacally.
I like how most of these people's favourite holiday is halloween, haha.
It's the best holiday.
nothing wrong with one of them, everybody decides how to celebrate and decorate ! . its not what you hang but how, and if thats you and you feel great with it then perfect !
Why were they forced to take down that funny one! Stupid police having no humor at all. :) I would have love that! :D But yeah, they're not lazy, they're humorous people who put more time to something more important I guess. :) Personally I love to decorate for Christmas, but it's not like you have to do it.
I expect after the 10th 911 call, the police got tired of the situation.
The one about the air freshener and the gifts was priceless!!!!
The word of the day is CLEVER🧐🤔
Hilarious. America needs to learn to laugh at ourselves again. So healthy!
I'm just thinking, for all the posts which re-use Halloween decorations and make them into Christmas ones, that the house owners bothered to decorate for Halloween but not for Christmas? I guess it shows which holiday is most people's favourite!
It's all about retail, nothing else! Chrismas use to be alot simpler, but now with so many people out of work, commercials are pushing people to the limit! Credit Card overload!
What country do you live in? Canada and America have the lowest unemployment rates they've had in decades, so I'm guess overseas. Hopefully things turn around where you are. Good luck!
I saved one of my trees after harvest and decorated it, but I can't post a picture of it. The DEA would knock down my door.
