Hey pandas
I work in the IT for nearly 15 years now and right now I am at a point, where I am actively questioning myself, if I want to stay in this branch for the rest of my life.
I am leading two technical teams and basically everything that has to do with service Desk and user support is in my responsibility. The company is very nice, the conditions are great but the relationship to my boss got kind of toxic within the last year. I struggle to wake up every morning, I don’t feel it anymore and because the circumstances are good right now (no costs for flat, just moved to my flat in my parents house, my bank account would be ok with a few months of lower earnings, girlfriend is on her own feet etc) I am trying to find an idea of a job, with suits with my strengths and has nothing or less to do with IT.
In private I am a Creative guy, obsessed with analog Synthesizers, DJing, in general music is a Passion. I love animals, we have 3 dogs and I love sharing my time with them. Furthermore I’m interested in Oldtimer campers, bought and restored an old 307 Mercedes by myself amd basically know what I’m doing.
What I would love to do: design an build lamps or other light objects. Video mapping etc. But how to get into it and earn money? Another thing would be animal rescue but woah… that’s nothing you can financially be safe in future.
Is there anybody out there who quit an IT job and found something more suitable? What IT skills could be an advantage in what kind of job? Are there any jobs that come in your mind while reading about my interests? Would for example moving to the IT department of a company that produces music gear would make sense? I mean I could easily get a new high paid job at another IT company as process designer or team lead but this is not what I want….. I think. Any other advice about my situation?
