People Are Applauding The Way This Woman Shut Down Jiffy Lube Employee That Was Harassing Her
The #MeToo movement was not just a 2018 fad, and despite the social strides from the previous year it’s going to take more than a Gillette ad to move some men in the right direction. One Twitter user proved just how important everyday lessons in accountability are when she posted an inappropriate text message exchange her sister had with an employee at Jiffy Lube. Instead of merely getting offended the woman took the opportunity to teach the man a lesson about harassment with one epic text message response. Scroll down below to see how the conversation played out and how she shut him down.

He may not have had bad intentions but deserves whatever he gets. A 14 year old girl was raped in my neighborhood a few years ago because the oil change dude at super lube thought she was cute! He went through a file got the address and watched their house until the girl was home alone. If you abuse access to private information you ALWAYS deserve to be fired!
Can't believe someone down-voted you for posting this. That is horrifying.
Load More Replies...You're entitled to your opinions but would you want someone doing this to your wife, daughter, sister, or friend? Is there a little push back in the "me too" movement? Yes but don't forget what that movement is a reaction to, why it's important, and who started this fight.
Load More Replies...Sounds about the same in my Swedish ears 🤔 Kinky americans!!
Load More Replies...While I totally agree with boundaries and privacy and all, I can't help but wonder why do we find it romantic when something similar happens in a rom-com? (I know my comment will get downvoted a lot, but it's a question I had to ask)
That was perfect 👌Way to go. I don't believe the guy actually had any bad intentions but it was still definitely inappropriate.
" I don't believe the guy actually had any bad intentions " This is why most men from an early age think they can do and say whatever they want. Downplaying the blatant disregard for this woman's privacy and ignoring the fact that she said she was married and thinking she would be the kind of woman that would cheat on her husband. His intentions were bad, this is something you DO NOT DO TO ANY WOMAN, THEY DON'T FIND IT ROMANTIC AT ALL!! There is not a single woman on this planet that would feel flattered by some man doing this because it is the act of a predator. If your son did this you better believe his mother wouldn't say " I don't believe the guy actually had any bad intentions " and I can tell you right now that if any boy did that to my daughter I would have some serious words for his parents about what would happen if he ever did it again.

My favorite part was the very last text where she told him he wasn't even one of her top five oil change guys.
I'm wondering why the photo caption says not the actual photo. Why would you use someone else's photo for something that could be potentially damaging? I'm really confused as to the ethics of photo sourcing for this specific post.
Particularly in this case, if you click on the photo link, the face is NOT BLURRED

It can be hard to find a good car maintenance place . So if the management react appropriately I would probably stick with them. Hopefully the ( stupid a*s) guy learnt his lesson and will never do this s**t again. MUCH respect to her for not letting it pass.

Happened to me when I joined a gym right after a devastating breakup. Who doesn't want a "hey this is Titus from the gym" text from the desk guy right after your rage 5k?
I've been stalked - and people, there is NOTHING I can think of that is creepier than knowing there's someone OUT THERE watching you. Kudos to her sister for taking charge and putting that guy in his place. And I love how she said "this may be a teachable moment". She didn't demean or humiliate him, she expressed the inappropriateness of his actions in a very clear & matter of fact manner. She didn't threaten his manhood or employment. I applaud her method of dealing with it.
I got pulled over LATE one night (like 2AM) by two policemen for speeding up before the signs told me to. Very nice cops, I told them i was on my way home from my boyfriend’s, they told me to slow down and let me go. Next night, same time, driving more slowly, I get pulled over in the exact same spot. This time, only one of the cops from last night, aggressively asking me out and telling me that he could run me in, ya’ know, just say you’ll go out with me....
I picked up a stalker back in the '90's this way, not oil change dude, insurance company dude. He wasn't even my insurance dude, he just worked in the same office and obtained my information by going into the file after I had left. People were not nearly as aware as they are now, when I contacted the police about him sitting outside my house, my work and the grocery store when my kids and I came out, they acted like it was my fault. Came home one day after many months of harassment to find my house had been broken into and my dog running around carrying the bloodied back pocket of a pair of Levi's jeans, guess who it belonged to?
your doggo is awesome for biting that stalker a$$h0le, though

You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re an angel for not spilling it on him.
Load More Replies...Her answer was really detailed and smart. I don’t think the guy did the worst thing in the world, he just did what he thought he could get away with and what was comfortable to him because sadly we live in a world where men used to get away with s**t like this constantly and they’ve become so comfortable doing this trashy, desperate s**t that they honestly don’t understand why it’s wrong. But thankfully things are changing, and a lot of men against equality are really having a hard time, which they deserve. I’m typically not into exposing people on social media for basically having a bad day and being rude or whatever. But this wasn’t rude or a bad day. It’s just that loser creep s**t that some men think is normal. I think people like this should be exposed so other people who have this same idea will be too frightened to try it.
Pro Tip: Never give your address. They will argue with you about it, but it is completely unnecessary for them to have, unless they are delivering your car to you.
maybe that's why Radio Shack went out of business, remember when they would ask for your address when you were just buying batteries?
Load More Replies...My girlfriend had to contact the police as well as the company that food a delivery guy worked for. Reprising "Benoit Ranque" comment, I work in It. There's no place full of data to browse like the IT world. Had the chance to meet couple of colleagues who took advantage of this aspect of the job for personal reasons, to say so, and be sure in ten seconds they disappear and you never heard no more of them in the business. First of all, everything is tracked under your userid, and you sign lots of papers to confirm it's you yourself who has power to access personal data. Wouldn't it be most stupid thing to do to act like a thief who is certified to have irons to open a valut where everywhere is written that you are ? However, people keep doing it, and keep getting sacked.
Max is correct. Not to mention virtually every business has a policy regarding client/customer data. You're only allowed to access what you need to do your job and nothing more. It is illegal to use business data outside business needs.
Load More Replies...Smart girl your sister. It would be interesting to know if this man changes his ways. He is now a liability to jiffy lube and should be fired.
If anything, incredibly tone deaf, bad judgement. Maybe in an earlier era this was considered "normal" behavior for some. but especially now, in current times, when this has really become much more of an issue for public awareness, this was just unbelievably stupid. Guys out there, you need to get this . . .
Lol! I think you are pretty. But I’ve seen even stereotypically “ugly” women get this same kind of attention. Maybe it doesn’t happen to you often because you live in a safer area or maybe you just intimidate those men.

Might be, but some creepers hurt women and talking back to some men causes retaliation. We've been socialized to be far less direct than this woman and just "hope" that he doesn't decide to get angry.

I feel like this is a story from few years ago with some small changes but same gist. Creeper at a place a woman frequents finds her personal info and begins to text her. The moral of the story is : Alwaya give a fake address to these types of establishments so they can’t stalk you through work. I use a address from 15 years ago and my aunts married last name.
Guy to girl TOTALLY NOT COOL. As a guy though if I was into the person I'd be okay with it. Now I completely understand why because in today's world if someone contacted my daughter like that I'd turn Liam Neeson on him. The company would not have to be involved - there'd be nothing for them to do but replace a missing employee.
Just another case where a man overstepped boundaries and got trashed. I don't think he will change has attitude against women though. He just was answering in a polite manner to avoid that the woman still would contact HR and get him fired. It's a good thing that the company immediatly reacted and is looking into this. So he'll get fired anyway.
Wow she ripped him a new one in the most educated and respectful way. Super classy, she's def a boss!
luckily, i stopped talking to women years ago. im safe from losing my job and being thrown in jail.
It bears repeating that anyone, anywhere that has access to personal information and abuses that privilege, deserves to be fired, Immediately; it says a lot about that person, that is evidence of a complete lack of respect, integrity and trust. I worked in medicine a long time, had access to all kinds of damaging information on people, but if you were ever caught-immediate termination. You couldn't even look in your own chart. IT tracked that stuff all day long, had a friend that got fired for looking in a family member's chart. In this digital age, there needs to be a blanket policy of ZERO tolerance for this behavior, by every company that has access to personal information.
I think, this needs to be a very teachable experience for the courts, judges as well as prosecutors and defense lawyers all. Many of the women stalked, raped or assaulted, have had their personal information looked up by an employee of the opposite sex, male and female! Before judges go doing a slap on the wrist s**t, make sure if their privacy was violated, they put that perp under a microscope and see if they did it to anyone else. The defense should do their due dillegence and find this out, first, but often do not. Kinda wrecks their defense of not guilty! But the prosc. Atty. should do his also. Then, if it is true, then notify the company they will be sued for pain and suffering, damages and therapy , as well as their Human Resources dept. not looking into an employees history better. Even if they are never convicted, and arrest record is a public record. If they are an adult. I could say more on this, but I hope you know where I’d go on this topic. Some men and women will.
Had a guy comment on my pic through my Mensa profile. After I nicely responded much like this woman did, he was put off that he just gave me a compliment. I reported him, removed my profile pic and also hid my contact info. On a professional networking site. I have even been propositioned on LinkedIn before. It is ridiculous.
Once she reports the guy to HR , she should go see Puddy. He was an awesome mechanic.
I saw a former student working at Tire Discounters in my neighborhood. While talking to the manager, it came up that the student had just transferred there from another TD, which he had to leave due to conflicts with coworkers. Without violating his confidentiality, I indicated to the manager that he should be certain that the young man understands the company's policies about proper interactions with coworkers and customers. The young man lost his job completely shortly thereafter. He was unwilling to refrain from making inappropriate comments to female customers and harassing female coworkers. He "creeped out" his male coworkers.
her answer was super-accurate, polite and just perfect except for the bit where she says she's not willing to ruin anybody's livelihood over something as simple as this, then proceeds to publish the whole conversation on the internet. which is the best move if you're REALLY into ruining someone's livelihood. totally unnecessary imho but oh well.
You know, maybe it's time some of these guys did face consequences for boundary-jumping behaviour. Not that he's likely to - in most cases they just get hired again somewhere else because "Women - they overreact, amirite?"
Load More Replies...No denying that personal info is off limits, but, devil s advocate here, What if someone at work sees an interesting customer? I wouldn't mind if someone thinks I'm interesting if I think he is.
That's the thing, this women told him she was MARRIED and he ILLEGALLY stole her information despite her very clear NO!
Load More Replies...This was a great way to handle this, but can we PLEASE use the word "harassment" judiciously? General, "sexual harassment" means harassment at work, like forcing someone to watch porn, or hinging their employment or promotion on sexual favors. He didn't harass her. That is not the correct word. He violated her privacy. She was absolutely SPOT ON in her response, but the description of "harassment" is completely off the mark.
The guy was very creepy and wrong - no question. But I do question the definition of "harassment" in this case. Down vote me, "school" me, even insult me if you must, but I always felt harassment is unwanted attention that continues after you make it clear it was unwanted. I concede that if the woman said she was married, that alone is enough to make this one communication "unwanted", but I wanted to put the question out there ... had she not been married and had he gotten her number for genuine business purposes - but then sent this ... is that harassment? If I (as a woman) don't know where the boundaries are, how can we expect others (men or women) to? My Uber guy texted me "can't wait to see you again" -and it felt creepy. Was that harassment too?
If you're a woman who doesn't understand that anything after no is harrassment, we can't help you. A) It says in the story she was clearly uninterested in his advances B) It would still be against privacy laws to steal her contact information for his own personal use
Load More Replies...Ouch...yeah, she could sue his company for this kind of thing here and she would probably win. And getting fired would be he least of this guys worries.

Load More Replies...I see here so many one-sided comments... hey, people, didn't you have a real love in your life? Love makes us do crazy things. Imagine this guy has feelings. Imagine he is not that stupid and understood the consequences of his behavior but just couldn't help it. Yes, this was no tinder match but by criticizing the way he acted you immediately disapprove of D'Artagnan who dated a married woman Constance Bonacieux, and of Alexei Vronsky, the lover of a married woman with children, Anna Karenina. Although these fictional women eventually died but to avoid that you just need to stick to very basic safety rules like keeping away from cardinals and trains. They died early but lived lives and knew love. Didn't you ever had the love when you just couldn't stand it? And now, when you've just seen the second side, let me show you the third one: this whole story could've been made up for promotion of Jiffy Lube. Just analyze the facts... Now downvote this to prove your onesidedness
this is FICTION. do you think Harry Potter is a real guy too?

Go to Walmart at least they're cheaper. It doesn't take an experienced mechanic to do a simple oil change. She should do a court order to stay away from her no less than 200 feet. That way they can arrest him if he does without her trying to prove he was following or anything
How do YOU misunderstand harassment as a compliment?

Load More Replies...I agree with the spirit of your message but I still downvoted you. Incredible claims require incredible evidence. Would you believe me if I told you I have a cat? Of course you would. Millions of people have them and it’s totally within the scope of reality. Would you believe me if I said I s**t rainbows? No, duh. The same thing applies here. The claim is so basic and the small amount of evidence presented here seems to back it up. Every woman that breathes has been in situations like this. Regularly.
Load More Replies...So you’re so soft and weak that you missed the part where she was married and he stole her number? Damn that’s soft and weak.
Load More Replies...Here are some hints for you since you seem confused about inappropriate ways to start conversations with women: never get her number from a third party, ask her for it directly face-to-face; if shes in public and has earbuds on, leave her alone, she wants to be left alone; don't cat call her and or follow her; assess the atmosphere and situation, ask yourself "Is this an appropriate time and place to approach a woman? Will she feel comfortable and be receptive here?"; Ask yourself if she's talked about having a husband or bf and if she has definitely don't "take a chance" like this moron did. I know assessing things like atmosphere, mood, body language, appropriateness of the situation etc is REALLY hard, but even in this modern age many men still manage to strike up kind and courteous conversations with women.
Load More Replies...Sooo you don’t think it’s a beta B***H move to steal a married woman’s number and send her desperate text messages?
Load More Replies...It's "capisci". Please, Englsih speakers.... Yeah, I welcome the downvotes, as many will think this is offensive, or irrelevant, but I couldn't resist, sorry. Anyway, good message otherwise (ruined by that abomination of a word....)
Ah but you are so right. They even use this in France, because italian is so hard when you know french... Oh and try to pronounce "capiche" in Italian. Sounds utterly ridiculous.
Load More Replies...The guy was respectful right away. Did she really need to go further? I get where she comes from and where he comes from. As a gay man I. Have dealt with wome. Abusi
Abusing their right. I am. Sorry she did the right thi g but there is a time to stop and be understanding. Also the pic... Remove it. Most people don't read the caption. Why even. This pisses me off
Load More Replies...- You're gorgeous - Who's this? - Your fav lube guy - The guy from Jiffy Lube? - Yes ma'am - Just couldn't help but to let you know - So I feel like... blah blah blah... - Sorry, ma'am, I just couldn't help but to let you know that your rear passenger tire pressure is gorgeous. I just accidentally hit send before I finished my sentence. Never meant to contact you for personal issues. We're only trying to deliver the best service and this is what we keep the phone numbers of our clients in the data base for.
Load More Replies...Have you never had your oil changed? They check all the things like that. https://www.jiffylube.com/auto-services/oil-change
No man who isn’t a total simpering weak b***h loser would need to do that when he could just grab his nuts and get the courage to tell her in person. You boys are suuuuuper weak. Perk up, sugartits. If you smiled more you’d probably get a woman.
Load More Replies...He got her phone number out of his job's database... It's not sexual harassment, it's highly inappropriate.
Load More Replies...He got her phone number out of his job's database. I don't know how does it work in USA but in my country it's illegal and highly inappropriate. Of course, the way he accepted her rejection was correct but that doesn't change the way he got her number
