In White, Georgia, there is an amazing place where classic cars are slowly reclaimed by nature. After reading about it, I HAD to see it for myself and drove 9 hours to spend the day there. Wandering through the forest, looking at these once-impressive symbols of industrial design, I couldn't help but think about the lives these cars have led. Besides taking pictures, I took my watercolors, sat in the woodsy silence, and drew a few of them in color.
The cars here have their stories, unable to be communicated with people who visit them today.
Each car and truck was driven to its new home, brand new from the dealer, its new owner brimming with pride, the neighbors coming over to admire it and congratulate the owner on their acquisition.
The cars here took people to work, on vacations, to the hospital, to sporting events. Serious conversations took place inside them. They sat faithfully in driveways and parking lots, waiting to serve.
They were possessed by multiple owners, each transfer shedding a measure of luster, each owner aging these devoted workhorses more until the time came when they were no longer needed.
Cast aside, no longer wanted, here they sit, never to move again, their stories untold, their service to their owners forgotten.

I am at work sitting literally 2.5 miles away from Old Car City right now. These pictures are great, and there are definitely some cool cars there... if the view from the road is any indication. I've never gone through it because it looks like an absolute tetanus trap full of snakes. XD
