Macaulay Culkin Posts Hilarious Pic After Disney Announces They’re Rebooting Home Alone (23 Reactions)
Following the purchase of 20th Century Fox, Disney now owns the rights to many of its franchises, including Home Alone. Recently, the studio decided it would give the ’90s classic a reboot on its forthcoming streaming service.
After he found out about it, Macaulay Culkin, the actor who portrayed the beloved Kevin McAllister, shared his take on what the “updated” version should look like.

Culkin, now 38, posted a hilarious photo of himself sitting on the couch with a laptop. In the pic, he can be seen rocking a headband and short white tank top, surrounded by video game controllers, take out meals and other stuff one could need on a lonely Friday evening.
Interestingly, the actor’s younger brother, Kieran, said their family continue rewatching the film. “It was a movie for us too growing up, which is funny,” he told ET. “You would think that because he was in it and it was such a big thing [for him] that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy it like a Christmas movie. But over the years we have been able to. Yeah, we watch it!”
People loved Macaulay’s picture and immediately started reacting to it

It's kind of lame that Disney is just remaking a bunch of movies. I guess they are just out of ideas :(
yeah. what's wrong with watching an old movie!

What's wrong is that it's old, personnaly I couldn't watch again home alone in 2019
Those movies are cash cows. How do you get parents into cinema with their kids? Show them what they loved when they were kids. I think it's really sad of Disney to destroy those classics. None of the new movies was nearly as good as the original ones.
Its called "masturbation"- and herein lies the difference between Studio Ghibli and Disney: first does refreshing valuable animation that results from deep thinking and wisdom, second did once make entertaining moving animation that were fun adaptations of worldknown myths but are now getting deep fried into some supposedly 'new' version. The japanese studio acts more *against* the japanese presidents weird intolerant p.o.w.s. The american studio acts kinda sorta *like* the u.s. presidents insaciable print-me-more-money hand me the golden telephone make me get this generations allowances too -kinda way. Lets just say ghibli is a true artist who knows when to stop and disney is some 19 year old football champ who thinks he can sell stuff to everyone at everytime doing anything- cuz his ego is bigger than the vacuum in his head
excuse me wtf
I believe it was Gene Siskel who once said, "Remake Bad Movies, not good ones." Nothing wrong with taking a mediocre movie i.e. The original (1951) Thing from another world and making it a great movie (1982) John Carpenter's The Thing. But why take a wonderful movie and remake it. In all likelihood it's all down hill from here.
it is simple marketing really... why to bother with an original story when you can remake a well know movie that dumb people will pay to see cause of nostalgia and such! since it is well know, you dont need to convince anyone! it is a recurring thing at disney... nothing new comes out of them anymore
true. I was thinking though out of all movies (animationary) I think Frozen was very unique because it was about sisters rather than princess and prince kind of story. Also, it's disappointing they are going to make a Mulan movie soon, bc I dont think Mushu the little dragon sidekick will be there :(
It's like how bands only seem to offer bonus remixes of their best songs.
The original THING was a wonderful movie. So was the remake. Just a different approach.
Maybe an upgrade would be in order, technology being a great dealfor the story, but... a simple line like "Dear, forgot to pay the internet bill" to avoid contact and thee you go, the same movie.
Disney is doing nothing but remakes and sequels these days. If your people can't come up with an original idea, hire new people Disney.
Macauly Culkin could be the crotchety old scary neighbor who is at odds with his family because he was also left at home... alone when he was a child. Then he can slap some bad guy in the face with a red hot snow shovel!!
He’s nowhere near old enough to be convincing as “crotchety old neighbor.” He needs like 30 more years for that.
How about the thirty something, failure to launch Kevin, still living with his parents, who once again gets left at home when everyone else leaves? Maybe he lives in the basement, overslept after smoking some kickass weed, or after a marathon online game, didn’t hear the commotion of everyone getting ready upstairs, and no one thought to check there for him. It would be a déjà vu twist on the original.
I am a bit angry about them thinking on remaking of Night at the Museum. Its not even old and who the hell can play a better Ted?!
Why are we "remaking" all the great movies? Can't they come up with something original? Every time I see them do this, it reminds me of Lethal Weapon 4..how most of it was a rehash of old lines from LW2...only more irritating. Stop messing with the originals...they were famous because they were original!
Shouldn't they make a cartoon version this time to following their own trend?
Just wait till some arsehole decides to remake Back to the Future...... can you imagine what the reaction to that would be..
Oh hell no!! Please do not even say it. This would be the worst thing ever!!
exactly my point
It’s starting to look like the Disney idea well is going dry. Just look at the total dud that their Star Wars theme parks are turning out to be because they didn’t realize Star Wars is pretty much all played out these days as the next generation has moved on to Marvel. And what the hell would even be the core story line and situation for a kid being “home alone” in the age of the Internet, Netflix, Uber/Lyft, PayPal and smart phones?
Holy, dude, you just look like I feel every weekend.
Is nobody going to mention the guy in the comments who makes his youth football members practice without water?? WTF???
So we're not the target audience for all these reboots? That's fine, I have no plans on watching any. I'll stick with my classics, thanks.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that knows it's gonna be home alone 6
What's the purpose? The original is fine. Sure, it has it's flaws but it's a memorable classic and I don't see what changes you would make towards the movie to improve it.
Off topic here but who else thinks he looks a lot like Putin? Could be his son. Look at Putin younger with hair...it's uncanny.

Ah just let Disney waste their money.. who's going to actually watch it?
soo stupid.plus wat really happened to all his money? is he poor now?
Rebooting Home Alone is REALLY the final straw. Fuck Gen Z so hard.
Gen Z isn't who is making these decisions. It's the Millennial and Gen X executives. Blame them. Gen Z is just the target audience.
He could play one of the bungling buglers
I care about the sequel... Not great but i liked it.

The'res gonna be a reboot?? But why???? Like, set in recent times?? Why would you do that??? 😩😩
When you are an adult and you are home alone.
What the shit! There actually is a HA 3 and 4... I never knew and looking it up... I can see why
But... it's already perfect!
Disney has not made a good flick since Walt stopped personally supervising.
Is Jacob Tremblay too old to play Rebooted Kevin McAllister? Asking for a friend who actually wants this.
I couldn't name one single actor beyond the first 2 movies. What a waste of time and money. Will absolutely flop.
