lately ive been struggling with my mental health, but im scared to bring it up because i dont want to be made fun of. my parents dont help the situation because they dont really understand that the reason i make art is to distract myself from my sadness or struggles, in fact they once said my art "dosent matter". what do i do?

If your parents aren't approachable, I would suggest talking to someone else, like your school welfare coordinator or guidance counsellor or equivalent. They can often help you themselves or refer you to a psychologist and maybe even work on ways to talk to your parents. I had a lot of trouble when I was in year 7 and kept skipping school and the welfare coordinator helped me a lot. Hang in there, things can get better. I hope that one day your parents can understand how you are feeling and support you, but if not I hope you other support systems to help.

This is the best course of action, although be aware that (at least in the US) any school employee is a mandated reporter, so if you tell them about something that is illegal or could put you/someone in harm's way, they are legally obligated to report it. Not sure to who though.

I just draw in my sketchbook, or I read my favourite book series Heartstopper.
