Once, I went to a fancy spa and paid for a body wrap — but what I got was a claustrophobia-induced panic attack.Or —I paid for a meet and greet with Justin Bieber; what I got was a photo with a cardboard cutout of JB.

The Fringe in Edinburgh has everything: over 20,000 shows, over 200 venues, over two weeks. You get to see everything, from long-established acts ("The Apprentice" a play in Roslyn Chapel, about the Apprentice Column, highly recommend). And then there are the acts just starting out, very rough. I paid just a few pounds for one of these.
They clearly hadn't practiced much, if any. It took time for them to set up their equipment, after starting time. Microphone, amps, instruments kept giving out. No one was in tune. They weren't in sync, either. A couple of them were singing way off key; not sure if there were substances involved, but looking back, I highly suspect so. It was just bad all around.
I gave it about 10 minutes, and just got up and walked out. I guess I was the first one to break the spell, because about 30 seconds after, first one, then all audience members, all 10 of them, came pouring out. Finally, even the lead singer came out, just shaking his head, and muttering. I was trying not to laugh out loud. I hope they got better, and after that start, nearly anything would be an improvement.
I had a similar experience at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. My dad often took us to the cheaper shows and usually it worked out great (discovering Celia Pacquola being the best). One show though was terrible. I can't even remember the comic's name. Every second word was a swear word and most of the 'jokes' were crude sexual descriptions. Nothing on the ad said it was R rated, so my dad had taken my brother and I (in our late teens) and my little sister who would have been about 10/11. I wouldn't have cared so much if anything she said was actually funny but it wasn't. We ended up leaving less than 10 minutes in, which felt really rude as it was a tiny room with only about 10-15 people in the audience.
Laser hair removal. This was about 20 years ago. I had light colored hair, and asked them if it would still work. They assured me that it would. I had 6 very painful treatments that didn't do anything. That was about $600 down the drain. No refunds.
I had a massage in a beach resort in the Maldives. I had metal rods down my spine at the time and made sure they know about it and would steer well clear... perhaps their English was not up to it but they just pretended to understand, although the huge long and very recent scar should have been a clue, but the masseuse climbed up on the table and started to walk up my back, until I shouted to stop before she'd done ay actual damage,
Trying to keep out and get rid of a pest infestation, caused by unsanitary neighbours, in my last apartment, just to get so fed up with mgmt not pulling their weight enough to eradicate the problem we ended up moving.
It put me and my mom in red, and now I'm still currently paying her back for helping and the move.
At least we ended up in a better place and no more pests. But still an awful experience. Took us a while to get adjusted.
Oof, that's the worst. Especially since if you're not super careful, you could end up bringing your neighbor's pests to your new location.
Roller coaster ride. Had Whiplash injury of the cervical spine after that.
I paid actual money to let someone wax my underarms. JHC! Worst pain of my life - and I've had 3 kids.
I booked a night at the Hilton Hotel on Valentine's day, 2001. £300 for one night, no breakfast, and room service was £5 for a cup of tea. We got up and went to McDonalds for breakfast.

Cruise to the Bahamas.
Incredibly small and cramped cabin, right across from the staff toilet as luck would have it, tiny little porthole window, luggage piled in a stack outside of an elevator and not delivered to the room like it was supposed to be, no snacks or treats or food anywhere between designated meal times, bars and clubs basically empty, meals were average at best, entertainment was nowhere to be found, two of the three ports of call were disgustingly dirty tourist traps.
NEVER again.

Colonoscopies have never been bad for me, but maybe they don't give everyone a general when doing them? (OTOH, waking up under anesthesia during an endoscopy--twice!--not fun at all...)
