Misogynist YouTubers and content creators , a step backward in the history of humanity , especially coming from youngsters raised in democratic free country’s
Sexism in general, misandry gets it's fair share too online. Not to make it about whataboutism, but generally less of the "they vs us" mentality would be better overall
remember that many posters here are not necessarily English as a first language.
Load More Replies...The act of a website to start censoring words so that it can kiss ass to commercial sponsors and to start charging readers to read an entire article rather than thanking readers who made the site what it is by being loyal readers for any years.
Censorship of common words that have many meanings is the worst part.
The rise in AI.
Influencers.......and go-fund me's for those too lazy to work
Go-Fund Me started with great intensions but unfortunately like too many things gets taken over by greedy people and con-artists. Now any personal fundraiser is I see I just look away.
Ignoring rudeness. Just because the elderly man in the white house does it, doesn't mean its acceptable. If he told you to jump off a bridge would you do it? Only if you're in the Epstein Files
Sadly, I think there's a sufficiently large number of people who *would* do it that the later ones would have a soft landing. After all, 6th of January....
rejecting medical advice from doctors and saying that vaccines are unnecessary poisons. we are regressing because WHY are there SO MANY people as of late who believe that disregarding decades of medical research is the correct choice?
It's frustration within the medical field. I deal with several long-term health issues and hear horror stories from others. When you are suffering and an incurious doctor treats you like a billable hour, you lose faith... add to that using internet blurbs as "research" and you have a disastrous recipe of distrust and just enough information to be ignorantly dangerous.
Suppressing honest discussions about important topics just because someone can't handle working through difficult emotions.
People being mean/self-centered just for the sake of it.
Political Correctness overkill. A good concept has devolved into form over substance.
Political OVERcorrectness - It became something parties and politicians used to gain power by calling the opposition racist, misogynist etc. and claim to be the most humane choice. Becomes a problem if serious crimes aren't prevented / punished out of fear to be seen as "racist" by their own people. (Huge reason why the Right gains popularity here in Europe btw)
TikTok challenges
Xenophobia. I find it especially ironic in non-indigenous people and colonizers.
I've lived/worked in indigenous communities and enjoyed my time there. Trust me they are not free of it. Also, many indigenous groups are where they are because they moved in and absorbed/forced out/ killed off whoever was there before them. It is a 'human' thing.
Trial by (social) media.
If someone has actually done something wrong, and there is actual evidence to show that they have done wrong then they should face consequences but cancelling/boycotting/or vilifying people on the basis of unproven accusations or simply because they are associated, or once worked with someone who has done wrong or comes from a country or race that is unpopular right now is ridiculous. By all means punish the guilty but allegations are not evidence or proof. There are two sides to every story and in-between them is the truth.
This is only a trend the USA has implemented because due process has gone out the window over there. But this mindset of villifying people isn't limited to high-profile people. There's people all over social media accusing each other of very serious crimes, that may come with very real, serious consequences, that may be unjustly, over blind accusations of racism and violence and p********a, just because people don't actually read into sarcasm, or understand the context of a comment, or just nitpick at certain words without reading the whole comment. I get not everyone is great at language/literature comprehension, but it should be acceptable to ask a question for clarification, and without snarky insults. Not enough people are kind and understanding these days.
Th current administration's war against free thought.
Post deleted - t'was actually supposed to be relating to the next post down. I was tired, wrote it in the wrong box. I'm not perfect. Oh, and Riccola, and I'm not going to take the bait for the rest of your comment, suffice to say that cherry picking one phrase and ignoring it in context is asinine. But, whatever...
People buying clothing that purposely show off body parts , and then complaining when other people look.
Excessive facial tattoos and piercings. Not sure people think too far into the future. What you think and do in your teens and twenties seldom lasts into later life.
Baggy/Baggy bottoms on men. I don't want to see their underwear.
That’s been going on since the 1990s. I’ve been waiting 30 years for it to go away.
Countries flirting with the idea of war or annexing part of other countries. We've seen it a couple of times in the last years. Think of Trump with Greenland.
War and annexing are becoming 'kinda cool', it's becoming kinda normalized. A couple of decades ago this was unthinkable in many parts of the world, we never wanted war again.
But clearly we have not learned anything from WW2, and almost all the people who lived through it are gone in a few years, so it'll just get worse.
Seems to be very normal to the USA. They did it to Hawaii, and this is why Canada and Greenland are not taking Trumps threats and rhetoric lightly. Canada was basically formed by assimilating, kidnapping Indigenous children and genocide. At least Canada acknowledges past atrocities and we're trying to make things better and move forward. Not like we can just rewind time and change the past. The USA wants Canadians to erase our history and conform to the USA history, erase our culture and take on a USA mindset, including the money-centric culture. (Shame on that Maine Senator for even thinking that was an acceptable letter to send our MLAs.)
Unearned self-esteem and the inflated sense of entitlement it leads to.
What is unearned self-esteem? Are you saying self-esteem has to be earned and that if you have low self-esteem you should try to improve on that if that's not what others think you can have? I'm lost.
To make everything a movie , even something as simple as reading a letter or a piece of text. I am very well capable of reading myself and it takes less time to read than watch that stupid movie.
Two for house deco: those ugly gray fake wood floors and kitchen cabinets where upper and lower ones are two different colors. Will go out of style quickly.
Three ducks flying up the wall. Fake brick wallpaper, especially around an equally fake electric "fireplace". Fluffy carpet in the toilet (restroom to Americans). Everybody wants an Aga...
I may be voted down for this, the spicy food trend. I would like to keep my taste buds and not order Tums in bulk.
Paranormal romance stories. I’m not fond of romance novels in the first place, but on the rare occasions when I pick one up, I just want to read about ordinary people, without all the woo woo stuff.
Cancel Culture... can we cancel that? Since when do we get to erase monuments and ppl over someone's feewings? Like I'm totally offended by Cancel Culture yet it's still around cancelling children's books, cancelling statues of historic value, etc...
