I have to agree with this one. Ironically, I've been watching a lot of Hitchcock and looking at the politeness exuded in the 1950s. Yep, the misogyny has not escaped me, but I'm now looking at it as what were the rules back then? Not advocating that we go back to that era, but we can learn a lot from it.

It's frustration within the medical field. I deal with several long-term health issues and hear horror stories from others. When you are suffering and an incurious doctor treats you like a billable hour, you lose faith... add to that using internet blurbs as "research" and you have a disastrous recipe of distrust and just enough information to be ignorantly dangerous.

Political OVERcorrectness - It became something parties and politicians used to gain power by calling the opposition racist, misogynist etc. and claim to be the most humane choice. Becomes a problem if serious crimes aren't prevented / punished out of fear to be seen as "racist" by their own people. (Huge reason why the Right gains popularity here in Europe btw)

the problem is that people much like yourself have let the "non PC" folks sway your opinion on the matter. being politically correct means not calling a black man the N word for inconveniencing you. it means not murdering your gay neighbors because they are gay. it means being a decent person. but the people who took offense to not being able to call their black neighbors the n word or gay neighbors the f slur have made it into a rallying cry to convince other low IQ individuals such as yourself that "political correctness is the problem waaaah" no the problem is you are racist and a piece of garbage and dont like being called out as such. stop being a bad person and people will not treat you like a bad person. but please go ahead and tell me why im a libtard and wrong. i know you want to.

    Trial by (social) media.
If someone has actually done something wrong, and there is actual evidence to show that they have done wrong then they should face consequences but cancelling/boycotting/or vilifying people on the basis of unproven accusations or simply because they are associated, or once worked with someone who has done wrong or comes from a country or race that is unpopular right now is ridiculous. By all means punish the guilty but allegations are not evidence or proof. There are two sides to every story and in-between them is the truth.

This is only a trend the USA has implemented because due process has gone out the window over there. But this mindset of villifying people isn't limited to high-profile people. There's people all over social media accusing each other of very serious crimes, that may come with very real, serious consequences, that may be unjustly, over blind accusations of racism and violence and p********a, just because people don't actually read into sarcasm, or understand the context of a comment, or just nitpick at certain words without reading the whole comment. I get not everyone is great at language/literature comprehension, but it should be acceptable to ask a question for clarification, and without snarky insults. Not enough people are kind and understanding these days.

I don’t know….too many times the “proper authorities” give the offender a slap on the wrist. Besides, as long as I’m not physically harming somebody or their property….I’m allowed to express my opinion of that person and what they did. As for boycotts….there is no law stating I MUST buy a product, attend an event, or whatever. If I choose not to read a book by a certain author, I have the right to say I refuse to read it…and to say why.

Countries flirting with the idea of war or annexing part of other countries. We've seen it a couple of times in the last years. Think of Trump with Greenland.
War and annexing are becoming 'kinda cool', it's becoming kinda normalized. A couple of decades ago this was unthinkable in many parts of the world, we never wanted war again.
But clearly we have not learned anything from WW2, and almost all the people who lived through it are gone in a few years, so it'll just get worse.

Seems to be very normal to the USA. They did it to Hawaii, and this is why Canada and Greenland are not taking Trumps threats and rhetoric lightly. Canada was basically formed by assimilating, kidnapping Indigenous children and genocide. At least Canada acknowledges past atrocities and we're trying to make things better and move forward. Not like we can just rewind time and change the past. The USA wants Canadians to erase our history and conform to the USA history, erase our culture and take on a USA mindset, including the money-centric culture. (Shame on that Maine Senator for even thinking that was an acceptable letter to send our MLAs.)

🤷 I live in France. I was dead chuffed when McDonald's did that Nether Flame sauce. I had an idea it would be good when I saw a little girl cry in stunned silence after dipping a lot on a nugget, and her mother tried it and did the same thing. 😂 FINALLY a hot sauce worthy of being called "hot". You can be sure I paid for a bunch and took them home to enjoy with my own chips. But, alas, the promo is over so it's back to Tabasco and Cholula that I swear must be made for the French market because, well, they're almost insipid. I'd get more fire from mustard (which I detest).

If you want to know why I like the odd dose of hot and spicy, it's because many of my childhood meals were served at boarding school, where the food was cooked to death and beyond, to the point where you really couldn't tell what was supposed to be rice and what was supposed to be cauli. Where you could trace food through the course of a week (burgers on Tuesday, burger pieces in beans on Wednesday, spaghetti with smaller burger bits in tinned boiled tomatoes trying to pass itself off as bolognese sauce on Thursday...). So now, every once in a while, I like to set my mouth on fire. It's been thirty five years and I still can't bring myself to go near tapioca. :(

I like spicy food - hot wings, spicy chips, etc. I have a hot sauce shelf in my fridge and a couple backups in the cupboard. None of it is just "hot", different sauces compliment different foods. I don't think it's a trend because spicy food exists in many cultures.
