Sweety Cake - what kind of bird was Penny? I love your drawing! I used to have a Hyacinth Macaw (huge bird) and an orange wing Amazon that was a rescue. Do you have a feather from Penny? I made a necklace with a feather from my Macaw. It isn't much but it's so nice to have that forever. Birds are so different from cats and dogs and regular pets. It's a whole other experience and takes a lot of attention. I bet you were a wonderful Bird Mom!

Dang, those are NOTES?!? Like, from a lecture, or reading something at your own pace? My lecture notes look like what they are: a frantic attempt to cram every possible amount of what the professor says down before they move on! (Writing something down or DOING it is the only way I really LEARN anything... Which is why I suck at strictly online classes)

Oh gosh no I am the same actually in a lecture, this was in my own time, trying to learn all these things for an exam. Write, rewrite and rewrite again! This was the first writing... it gets worse from here on out! If I'm in a lecture I use a laptop as I'm much quicker typing and then I can actually read it afterwards as well - always a bonus!

40 years ago wedding invitations were addressed by hand in calligraphy. I was a Non-Starving artist. I did calligraphy instead of working a fast food job after school. I designed and built a 10,000 Sq. ft. house on 25 acres. My mom asked "how are you going to pay for all this?" Husband and I started a business 30 years ago and she thought If I didn't put a card through a time clock 40 hours a week, I must be unemployed. I just turned my position as graphic designer over to my daughter. So I am, mostly retired. When I started as a freelance artist, I wasn't picky about the job, as long as it paid 5x what I'd make at McDonald's. When my husband and I net, we didn't combine incomes, we created an exponentially mutually beneficial partnership. 30 years together, 20 in this house. I get to be a for fun artist now. Original text is: Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Which fits exactly across one line of type on a typewriter. It was a test for secretaries to be able to touch type without an error. I an Inversely Ambidextrous. My right hand writes left to right and easily legible to most people. With my left hand it is a mirror image. I was completely dyslexic until I learned to write cursive. A typed or hand written block look the same to me out of context. I hate this format for entering text. I can't proofread efficiently and I can't correct misspellings after I hit enter.

Please be gentle in any critique. I've been trying to teach myself Copperplate and Spencerian Scripts. It's not easy that's for sure and My arm gets very tired, but I think in the end it will be worth the effort. As you can see, my slant is off as well as my loops and heights. Le sigh.

I upgraded my handwriting several times during my life, my original was deemed "illegible chicken scratch" by my 4th grade teacher. But regarding Med School, we often had to write 30 sheets of paper a day at max speed, so our wrists might get damaged and we favour speed way over precision. Might change soon as there is less manual notetaking.

It takes practice and these days, I doubt you have much that needs to be handwritten. I'm sure tests and such are done on your laptop. When I was in school, I graduated in '88, laptops were not a thing and everything was written. And we wrote in cursive because it was faster.
