Rats are the best!! Smart, trainable, very social, charming little fur muffins. You need at least two rats-- they are social creatures and need the company of other rats, not just their human.

It you can tell when they need to go potty, (he passes gas and it’s horrible) then start putting them in the same area. I used white, bleachable kitchen towels. It took a few months. He associates the towels with where he goes potty. I would tell him to go potty. He’s almost four and has been consistently trained since he was one. He refuses to go potty in his tank or anywhere unless it is on a white towel, paper towel or napkin.

Same! I used to catch them all the time as a kid. That's why I decided to go whole hog and set up an enclosure for them! These are just normal backyard pillbugs, but there are some amazing new breeds out there now that are absolutely gorgeous!

I used to have these as pets as well! So fun to watch. I got mine from my sister who has a bioactive Vivarium, she has all fancy types, zebra, etc. Mine reproduce so much I had to give them back to her as they stripped their habitat clean. But now you got me thinking of trying them again... 🤔

Hi! I feed them either fish food flakes or a specialized product from the company Repashy called "Bug Burger". It's designed to be fed to "feeder insects" like crickets and isopods. Photo of both products is attached :) They honestly seem to prefer the fish flakes to the Bug Burger. I also buy something called a "cuttlebone", which is for pet birds, and I scrape some of it into the enclosure. This provides extra calcium to help them moult their shells, but it isn't required. Really you could feed them any brand of freshwater fish flakes :D I don't feed them every day - because they are detritivores ("trash"/rotting stuff), I only feed them again when I see ALL the fish flakes have been eaten. That way, extra food doesn't build up and grow mold/attract unwanted insects :) My pillbugs are all backyard-caught ones too! Someday I'd love to buy some of the fancy kind, but for now, mine are "locally sourced" ;) IMG-6887-6...70eb3d.jpg

She had a hard time adjusting when we got her. I held her in an open top critter keeper to socialize her. She would dig in the substrate then pop up and snoot. She's my sweet little rat baby!

Very easy, low maintenance pet. If you're in charge of your pets, go for it! If your parents have to say yes, do a bunch of research on owning corn snakes so you can make a solid case. Note that frozen feeder mice are sold in pet stores, in case someone in your household is put off by live feeding. No different from us buying a roast chicken.

Yeah she's s land snail 🐌 I have 3 others named . Mitty Luna and Niko . They make amazing pets and they are not even full grown yet but they be about 10 inches long and weigh a couple of ounces. And they have long life spans about ten years and they are very intelligent and the squeak when they are happy 😊

Me and my girlfriend live in an apartment complex we're only allowed to have one pet(apparently fish and bugs don't really count you can have them as long as bugs don't escape) so we got a cat because we both grew up with cats. You also have to pay a fee for having a pet(again fish and bugs not included).

he was, he was very sweet and my little sibling would put a cowboy hat on him and film videos on my phone of them narrating him, i just wish i gave him a better life, he died of not having enough nutrition because we only fed him meal worms instead of other foods to, we did research on what they need to eat but we made a huge mistake. i just wish i could have had him for longer, he died not even a year after we got him. the poor thing must have been in so much pain, some of his bones where broken because of how weak he was. i cried for hours on end. typing this triggers me to even cry right now. i just wish we could have given him a better life. usually when i tell people this they tell me that i'm a monster for killing my own pet. but i don't really care if i get downvoted to hell because of this, i just needed somewhere to express my feelings. sorry for all the typing also.

There are numerous different types of wolf spiders. We have tons of ground-dwelling wolf spiders here. There are massive ones that live under our back steps & do a magnificent job of cleaning up unwanted insects. You can spot their little homes in the shrubs by looking for webs in a funnel shape.

Tarantulas are work and no actual fun as far as interaction goes. The joy comes from knowing that you’re taking care of them properly. Our girls are well loved but we never handle them. I do hope that you get to have one ( or many) someday since you really like them. Ts make great house pets. They’re quiet and clean!

I don’t really remember what they feel like cause it’s been a long time, but I feel like with that sort of stuff it would be be best if you just start by looking at or touching pictures of spiders, maybe watching videos of people holding them.

She may not be unusual. She is one of thousands who were fortunate enough to have found a home. My big-a*s 300 lb scary looking husband noticed her by a dumpster near a loading dock. He gave her some food and water. She was still there when he left work. He brought her home. She was tiny, 4-5 weeks old. She is now 2 years old, much loved, a member of our family. Blessed be!
