The Golden Globes kicked off awards season last Sunday (January 5) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, marking the return of the online fashion police. After the ceremony, the celebrations continued as stars mingled at various exclusive after parties in Los Angeles.
Many celebrities changed into less formal outfits that they wouldn’t typically wear to the main event. While some leaned too far into the casual vibe, others opted for bold fashion statements that many felt missed the mark.
Here are some of the looks that social media users deemed the worst from this year’s Golden Globes after parties.

Emma Chamberlain
For the UTA after party, Emma opted for a more casual look, wearing a mint green trench coat with a black turtleneck top and matching pants.
The 23-year-old podcaster paired the outfit with a black bag and boots.
She looks like that super strict aunty that your parents ask to babysit you while they went on vacation.
Mary Elizabeth Ellis
The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actress attended Netflix’s party in a white slip dress with red and light blue illustrations, which she paired with a silver clutch.
She looks like a normal woman with a dress she got from a Philly thrift store, so she's keeping with her character
What is with things not fitting well? They don't have to be skin tight, but it's just not all that flattering.
Elle Fanning
Elle wore a leopard-print silk chiffon Dior Fall 2004 dress with a slit at the leg and a matching neck scarf.
She completed her look for Jas Mathur and Michael Braun's party with black peep toe heels, a clutch, and red lipstick.
“That runway look is a hot mess,” wrote a Redditor on the subreddit r/whatthefrock.
To this troglodyte it looks like a Hollywood dress. What am I missing?
If i wore any animal print at all. I would look awful But Elle looks amazing.
Load More Replies...What's with the little red bows? They just add a touch of bedroom for no reason.
I like the rest of it, though. She carries it off well.
Load More Replies...You know I wasn’t sure whether or not this is a good look, but since some random redditor thinks it’s a mess ig we should burn the dress immediately /jk
Leopard print is not my thing but I've definitely seen a lot worse and it does look good on her.
Ivy Wolk
Ivy, who played Crystal in Sean Baker’s film Anora, wore a denim two-piece set consisting of a ruffled top and peplum skirt.
The California-born actress accessorized the early 2000s-inspired look with black tights and gray shoes.
Not Golden Globes worthy; this looks like something a person would wear out to a casual dinner.
It's almost like there isn't something that would help the ruffles lay better. Oh - it's an iron, or take it to a dry cleaner that will press it for you. Otherwise it's adorable.
Awkwafina
Awkwafina presented the award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, which Max’s comedy-drama Hacks won.
The Farewell actress attended Netflix’s after party in a long-sleeved black dress, featuring mesh material and gold detailing in the chest area.
Nothing worst dressed about this! Her dress is tasteful and well-tailored. Her hair is smooth and jewelry is just right.
Jonathan Van Ness
The Queer Eye star paired a purple sequin slip dress with white sneakers. Before the ceremony, the famous hairstylist interviewed celebrities on the red carpet for WWD in a strapless green gown by Christian Siriano.
The dress isn't doing him any favors, it just doesn't lie across the body in a flattering way. I also think a deeper shade would suit his coloring better.
I agree. I think a v neck with capped sleeves in a plum/dark red would suit him. I also think some structured shape around the hips of a petty coat layer to lift the bottom of the dress slightly would have been more flattering on the waist.
Load More Replies...I am part of the LGBTQ fam, but I can't be the only one who thinks he's annoying.
I honestly don’t think this one is bad. The ones he has worn on the show are too small and unflattering. This one actually looks good on him.
He looks ridiculous, because most of these dresses are designed to flatter a sleek woman's body. Not men with hairy faces, long arms and big gawky hands.
I agree. If a man is going to wear a dress then get it tailored to fit (I don't really care about the hair thing). This just looks like a sack.
Load More Replies...This particular dress does not suite him at all and the bag doesn't match.
Ashley Graham
The model was photographed at the UTA (United Talent Agency) after party in a risqué black mesh dress that revealed her underwear. She kept her makeup simple and paired the outfit with black heels and a matching clutch.
Seen plenty without the underwear that don't get the hate. Could it be that she is a larger woman?
I think the mesh cover is a bit too big. It starts to give her a rectangular look. Otherwise, no complaints.
Load More Replies...quizas con un mejor escote hubiera acompañado su figura. de todos modos super sexy y sentador el conjunto. y miren esas sandalias!!
FKA Twigs
The 36-year-old English star wore a burgundy lace bralette and translucent skirt, a light brown moto jacket, and thigh-high leather boots.
I agree. I thought we were all trying to get away from the 0% body-fat aesthetic that is killing girls.
Load More Replies...Agree. They both look like they haven't eaten a solid meal for months!
Joy used to be the most beautiful woman on the planet until she got on the gaunt Ozempic bandwagon. :(
I'm sure they'd say they eat like that all the time,
Load More Replies...Anthony Anderson
The actor and host of Fox’s We Are Family attended UTA’s after party wearing a striped black and gray outfit that looked like a mix between a tracksuit and a formal suit. Anthony kept his footwear casual with white sneakers.
He looks fine. What I'd expect a tech-bro to wear to corporate seminar.
Peeps get called 'Chavs' in the UK for wearing tracksuits outside of a gym/Track. My son (31) doesn't care and wears them all the time, lol, except at work (office).
Richard Gadd
Richard celebrated the win of his Netflix show, Baby Reindeer, which took home the award for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.
The Scottish actor, who was nominated for Best Performance in the same category, kept it simple in a black Dior suit adorned with a plated lapel pin.
How is this worst dressed? He looks excellent and Dior is never out of style. I love the pin.
Get a decent stylist to do both his hair and his beard - he'd look fine.
Why do guys wear their hair like this? His outfit is fine. It’s just the weird fringe/bangs. 😬
Lisa Ann Walter
Lisa famously played Chessy, the nanny to Lindsay Lohan’s character in The Parent Trap, and teacher Melissa Schemmenti in the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary.
At the star-studded event, the actress wore a custom red Marchesa gown that featured a fishtail silhouette, a draped bodice, and off-the-shoulder sleeves.
Not a fan of the mermaid dress on anyone but she looks really happy.
Ayo Edebiri
The Bear actress, nominated for Best Performance in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, wore an oversized gray suit by Loewe, accessorized with black dress shoes, a burgundy bag, and a cap.
The look was similar to the Armani suit Julia Roberts wore to the awards show in 1990 when she won Best Supporting Actress for Steel Magnolias.
“I’m always rooting for her! But I’m rooting for her to find a tailored suit for once,” one Redditor said.
“The baggy suit look is never my favorite on anyone ever,” another commented. “Call me boring. I dislike this look as a whole.”
Agreed! I love to party and feel like I can dance and move with ease.
Load More Replies...the homage suit is ..10/8, but the " I have no job, no style, no future, no friends, 420, fair-trade ethic-vegan coffee shop visitor" hat?! wtf
Who chose this photo?! This is from the after party, of course she was dressed down! The actual outfit did not have the cap or the purse, rather it was accessorized by a gorgeous golden feather-design tie. This photo and description does zero justice to the outfit.
Auliʻi Cravalho
The Hawaiian actress, who famously voiced the title character in Disney’s Moana, presented the award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture, won by Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez.
Later, she attended the Netflix after party, held at the Beverly Hills restaurant Spago.
Auliʻi chose a black and white polka-dot dress, adorned with a flower detail at the top. She accessorized the look with silver jewelry and black shoes.
I'm thinking that about a lot of these pictures.
Load More Replies...She's beautiful and looks amazing, the dress suits her nicely. I don't get it
I love this! Guess we know why I wouldn’t work in Hollywood. 😂
Gabriel Basso
At Netflix’s after party, the Night Agent star donned a formal all-black ensemble that many agreed seemed more fitting for his role as an FBI agent.
It is a bit dull perhaps, but there's nothing actually wrong with it.
Evan Ross
At Jas Mathur and Michael Braun's Golden Globes party, the 96 Minutes actor made a statement in an all-black suede suit, matching dress shoes, and a fedora hat.
NOT worst dressed. What's wrong with this article? He looks cool!
This article is awful. So judgemental. Most of these items are perfectly fine. Marina, just delete this article and do better, please. It does you no favours.
I’m going to need someone to explain to me what’s wrong with the outfits. I’m apparently uneducated in anything fashion. Thx.
BP has been decreasing in quality so badly. What in the universe has happened?
