3,500-Ft-High Glass Walkway Cracks Under Visitors’ Feet
A 3,540-foot-high (1,080m) glass walkway at Yuntai Mountain Geological Park in China cracked right under visitors’ feet on Monday after a visitor dropped a stainless steel cup. This walkway opened on September 20th, and given that another glass bridge was recently opened in China over a mountain gorge, many Chinese people have been less than thrilled at the news.
The visitors were not endangered, as the walkway features several layers of 2.7cm-thick glass, each of which can support 800kg per square meter. Because the glass plates were custom-made, there is no word on when the walkway will be reopened.

“I don’t know what caused this, but at that second many people screamed. I shouted that it really broke! Then I pushed in front of people and ran. It was terrifying”

Luckily, the walkway had several layers of glass, so the visitors weren’t harmed

Share on Facebook'...Then I pushed in front of people and ran' If the glass broke and I am the one who was pushed by him, I'll definitely take my revenge
so where is that?and wow bored panda is loved by millions of people that we met YOU!
Load More Replies...I understand the panic of standing on a high breaking glass bridge, but wouldn't running your way out be even more endangering? Especially if everyone started running...
That is why you push first the others, some might fall right away so you have less competence
Load More Replies...that sure stained some pants... what held it together was the polycarbonate plastic film, that makes bullet proof and safetyglass possible. the glass that broke, (the aesthetic layer) was the rigid but brittle mineral layer. i am sure that even 10 people could stand there, after the glass broke, and they would be safe.
Sounds like a few rules about what can be carried while using the walkway are in order!
What a stunning bridge!. Because the glass panes are in layers, one of them cracking wouldn't be something to panic about.
What's the obsession with walking on glass; it's certainly easy enough to look over the side, not straight down!
".. one of the visitors dropped a stainless steel cup." This visitor should be prosecuted for endangering the lives of others.
Did nobody learn from the broken pane incident on London Bridge ... if you're prone to dropping things randomly, you may want to stay away from things that shatter, break or crack ...
I'd rather take a helicopter to see that enormously beautiful view and take pictures of it all... Glass Walk and Bridge - NO THANKS!!!!
Sounds like whoever made the bridge made most of the exported stuff sent to the USA!! Poisoned dog food, poisoned baby food.......you get the picture....
We are talking about China , the country that has no idea what safety is
The person who "pushed" their way in front of the others should be "pushed" over the side of the walkway at its greatest height. LMAO, you'll be on solid ground before you know it. Baabye!
Haha, that's the end of that then! Who would go on that knowing that the glass can break?
