One recurring myth, according to the AAA, is that oil changes should happen every 3,000 miles. Their survey even found that 45% of people subscribed to this belief. However, this is no longer applicable to today’s engines, which use lubricants and other additives to extend the oil’s service life.
According to the AAA, cars 15 years or newer can have oil changes at intervals of 5,000 to 7,000 miles. Vehicles that use full-synthetic oil can go as far as 15,000 miles in between services.

Translation: salesperson was using 4WD on pavement. You shouldn't use 4WD on pavement XD Your drivetrain will sort of "lock up" ish and will feel like it's "fighting" you as you try to steer/turn. Putting the car into 4lo (low range) makes the steering feel even stiffer.

From reddit "Finally found the cause of the random jumping and wiggling at speed. Had the wheel & tires balanced 2 times before finally deciding to change the set. The foam padding on the original factory pirelli tires has dislodged and was probably causing uneven balance. This original set was 4 years old and had 27,000 km on them. "

From OP: "The "nail" was what looked like a bit of chain link fence (construction around both elementary and middle school). The wonky bit has been spinning and eroding the tire sidewalls from the inside (hence the shredded rubber collected inside). Obviously, new tire but still a pucker moment for me knowing my wife was driving that with no clue."
