There is no doubt that every song has its hidden meaning and every person might understand that meaning differently. But have you ever tried to interpret the message of the song the other way than it is meant? Well, one guy from Iceland did that and created incredibly comical pictures.
Artist and cartoonist (or as he calls himself, “artoonist”) Hugleikur Dagsson (previously here) is drawing ironic parodies of popular songs, which range from innocent hits from the 50s to melancholic rock ballads of all time. These simple and unsophisticated illustrations might give a naive impression, but they are surprisingly accurate, snappy, sometimes rude and even vulgar.
Dagsson’s humor is not for everyone. His ideas go beyond the limits and might be considered bad taste. Some pictures are based on some taboos of Western society. Also, not everyone might find these picture funny, but it’s hard not to give a little smile at least once when strolling through these comic illustrations.
The artist put all of these pictures and more in a book series called “Popular Hits”, published in English.

Why do drug addict celebrities get sympathy from the commoners but a homeless person with the same exact addiction is a piece of s**t burden on society? If people don't feel sorry for poor people why do celebrities with problems get sympathy?

If you often see someone on your screen and you have fun your mind starts to think you know them, they become a part of your group. Intellectually we know that we know almost nothing about them and they don't know us at all, but that's not how the more primitive parts of our minds work. We also know about all the terrible things in the world, many of which are totally preventable, like kids dying of cholera, but since we have no personal bond with them our feelings don't really get involved unless we force them there with our imagination. When a celebrity dies, our feelings are more involved since our brain thinks we know them.

And there's everything but blood, or action, or good literature, Oscar Wilde said "There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written". Well, Twilight saga is badly written.

Hm...this collection seems to have almost complete overlap with the "Icelandic Humor Is As Dark As Their Winters" but for not being marked "NSFW". Nice comics, though.

So the sexual content is censored, but the violence not. ;) :D This hypocrisy always amaze me. Why is sex more dirty even than the dark humor there ;)

The "White Christmas" one is stupid. Everyone knows that the singer means they're dreaming of snow. Especially when the first verse is sung. ♪ The sun is shining, the grass is green, the orange and palm trees sway. There's never been such a day, in Beverly Hills L.A. Be it's December, the twenty fourth, and I'm longing to be up north.... ♪ On top of that it was composed by Irving Berlin and we know how the KKK feel about the Jewish people.

Nobody actually believes that the songs actually taking a racist stance, so relax. It's a joke. In my opinion the funniest of the bunch.
