I feed my garden birds (started out just throwing scraps and crusts out, now it's a full on banquet with feeding platforms, mealworms, suet blocks, proper seeds and nuts). Over time, I've noticed we're on a war footing-I get seagulls coming from time to time, but whenever they appear, the sparrows and little finches go hide in the shrubs, and the crows and blackbirds gang up and advance on the gulls to get rid of them-its a ferocious feathery army. As soon as the gulls go, the crows and blackbirds revert back to screaming at each other and chasing each family away, so the sparrows take advantage and pop out of hiding and scoff the lot. It's fascinating to watch.
