Trevor Lahey, AKA Greaseball1987, is one Certified Caulk Installer with a wicked sense of humor. His parody Instagram account, which gives little other information save for his hourly rate ($17.40/hour non-negotiable, if you must know), is a collection of hilariously bad construction fails and DIY home improvement jobs over which he writes hilariously funny captions.

Assuming the role of the worker, Trevor proudly presents his interior design 'projects' with tongue-in-cheek hints and tips, whilst lavishing praise on his own creative ingenuity. The funny photos are rounded off with your stereotypical 'inspo' hashtags, with #keepcraftalive, #problemsolver, and #themoreyouknow being particular favorites.

Check out some of his best captions and tell us what you think about these hilariously bad designs. Do you have any DIY epic fails to share? Do you know any 'experts' like Trev here that might not be as skilled as they think they are? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Given Trevor's frequent use of the word 'darts' to refer to cigarettes, we can only assume that he is Australian. Bored Panda has reached out to Mr. Lahey for further comment.

I hate to be critical, but in addition to the hex-head screws, and the Phillips screws, you gotta also have at least two old-fashioned slotted-head screws. Also, a dark brown switchplate might have shown off the craftsmanship better.

Easy to see what has happened. The top screw has been removed from door stop and it has swiveled down so now door handle misses it. You can see the screw hole right above door handle on wall.

Nah, that door stop has 1 screw at the center of the rubber, multiple screws on a wall stop is rare, and the chances of someone making a stop with 2 exposed screws through the trim ring to capture a rubber stop without piercing it .... hmmm more work, ugly exposed screws and ... nope. That’s a gouge from hanging the white board. The door stop location is from (1) measure from hinge to center of k**b (2) mark same distance from hinge on wall (3) Measure from bottom of door to center of handle (4) mark same distance on wall. OR (3) Measure from floor to center of latch hole in latch plate. (4) subtract thickness of threshold (5) mark wall.

When I was a kid had a peninsula in our kitchen with cabinets above it and I remember one night we were watching a scary movie and at a scary part we hear this huge crash in the kitchen that scared the c**p about of everyone. The cabinet had fallen down smashed into the counter and broke the counter. All the dishes and glasses in the cabinet were shattered and my mom just started crying while my dad kept saying over and over that he will fix it. He fixed it eventually and we had plastic dishes for a long time cause my mom didn't trust it. I had completely forgotten all about that until seeing this pic.

This is just the glue that either didn’t hold up the old shutter properly... or has just been applied to hold up a shutter. Glue looks new, so I’d say this is a project in progress, not an end result.

That way there is less water to freeze, so you avoid those embarrassing slips and falls. This might not be a bad stop-gap solution. Think about it. Higher water pressure at the neck of the bottle will push the water farther away from the foundation than the downspout alone would. If you can't make it to the hardware store right away, this might do in a pinch.

"I already dominate the renovation and construction world, but every now and then I like to dabble in furniture and millwork just to see how far my skill set can go. Reclaimed furniture is all the rage right now, so I decided to give this 100 year old barn wood new life. Once again I did not disappoint! It is only a matter of time until I start running these furniture shops out of business!"

Reminds me of a couple guys I dated when I was young and dumb. You know the ones. Bedsheets for curtains, lawn furniture in the living room, mattress on the floor, stacked milk crates for storage, smaller versions of packing boxes like the one pictured as end tables, and a large industrial cable spool plus folding chairs for a dining set.

You’ll be amazed how much more selection you get! They will probably tell you they aren’t compatible but these humans work on commission; I assure you they’re compatible and it is a way cleaner finish!"

Don’t even get me started on the benefits of soaking those corns! This is my personal house in case you were wondering; figured it was time to do something nice for myself for a change"

OMG! My rental apartment has this in the bathroom. Guess they didn’t want to buy a new toilet, so just gave it a perch to raise it higher. It does work.

"When building steps I like to cut my treads at least an inch shy! (But in reality the larger the gap the better!)This gives me room for expansion but more importantly I don’t scratch the stringer trying to squeeze in a tight tread. I make up the difference with some cedar shims which will not only outlast the treads but, also adds a touch of class to the deck. Not too much class; just the right amount!"

This looks terrible but I was thinking of doing something very much like this to get some height on my shower head. Comfort over aesthetics every time!

A handheld shower head screws right on, adds about 8" to the head height and costs $10.

Unfortunately, it’s a dead giveaway that this thing hasn’t been detecting smoke. The customer said they would be back in the afternoon, so I have until then to crush a few packs of darts to make this blend!"

I mean they built the pyramids thousands of years ago and they're still standing! In a few thousand years someone is gonna look at this deck and be like wow "greaseball" did a great job!"

"I had to think outside the box on this repair. I needed to maintain access here for my daily $4.25 fill-up at the gas station. Therefore caulk was not a viable option, good thing I had a roll of electrical tape left over from the last time I played electricon! This guarantees that the lid will remain closed, because I think we can all agree there ain’t a better tape on the market!"

"Safety is my number one concern, I couldn’t sleep at night knowing a cover plate fell off; exposing the dangerous electrical terminals! I always opt for the 2” drywall screw to ensure a good solid connection! If you’re looking for extra grab, try the coarse threads instead of the fine threads!"
