After A Cop Pushed A Kneeling Woman, Black Female Police Officer Stands Up For Her
In the midst of the protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota, footage of a male cop pushing a kneeling black woman to the ground emerged. But the incident, which happened in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, didn’t stay unnoticed.
One black female officer stepped up to confront the cop over his actions. The video shows her yelling and what appears to be scolding as the male cop is running away. The brave officer is now being praised online and one protester behind the camera can be heard shouting “yes, thank you.” Let’s take a close look at the disturbing incident down below.

After the Fort Lauderdale police identified Steven Pohorence as the violent officer on video, tensions rose even further Sunday night. Local10 reports that Pohorence was suspended with pay while the investigation is taking place. He has been a member of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department since October 2016. Chief of Police Rick Maglione commented: “that officer has been removed from any contact with the public.”

The “heroic” police officer confronting Pohorence in the video was identified as Krystle Smith. Maglione said that “she did what she was supposed to do”: “When you see either adrenaline or emotion or some kind of interaction going south … that is our job to do, is intervene.” When Maglione was asked if he believes Poherence’s actions could have escalated the situation, the chief replied: “It could have added to what was already going on.”
It’s been speculated that the victim of the police’s force may have filed a lawsuit

She's a hero.
She is amazing - he's a cowardly, power-mad bully.
Ok, something seems strange. She came running with the other male colleague way before the guy could even touch the kneeling woman. What happened before? Did he hurt another person?
They could see he was all ready shouting in the face of someone and were probably going in to put a stop to that. Why shout at people in that angry way? You're a cop. Just ignore it if it's not illegal. You're meant to help keep the peace not inflame the situation.

Not a hero, no, but she did the right thing, as we want and expect all police officers to do.
By definition she is. 1)a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Comments all over prove that they believe she has outstanding achievements and is looked up to. You have seen one action but I would put big money that her career record and community input would put her deep in the Hero area and that attitude did just show up a week ago.
Marie how would react in such a situation a s policewoman? It's very difficult as woman to face down a manwhho has gone bonkers. Try it sometimes.
Officer Smith is a credit to the badge. She shows what real cops do, protect and serve.
I don't understand why people like him are in the police force in the first place. It doesn't make sense to me
That's why they join the police, to obtain power over others and be able to assault people without being arrested.
And when they get in trouble, they get a vacation (suspended WITH pay).
Many today, aged 24-45, are recent veterans of the armed forces, and bring back their anger and hate, & perpetrate more violence on those whom they see as not their neighbours, and not American enough to defend, like an unarmed kneeling protester. -Dr M
Power and veterans are not the problem. There are many out there that didnt even agree with the wars their jobs told them to fight.
Maybe we shouldn't allow veterans to become police officers. There is precedent for restrictions on occupation like we disallow active military people from holding office.
Because they're bullies who have an over inflated sense of self importance that like the little bit of power it gives them. You can tell he's a total Ahole by just looking at him. I'm.just so angry right now.
And this "bully culture" begins at the elementary schools in America. And then they are surprised than there are a lot of issues like this...
And bullies are just cowards who are scared shitless of being found out.
Because they want power and they want a legal way to bully others.
Neither do I, Bored Alchemist. I think that it is a sick power trip for some of these racist pigs who dare to call themselves police officers. I understand that there are good cops out there who are working to foster change and protect their neighbourhoods (BoredPanda had a great article yesterday that showed photographs of police officers kneeling in solidarity with protesters), but the United States honestly needs to address that they have a true deep-seated issue with racial intolerance and underlying bully culture in the police force. Thank you for Krystal Smith (the true hero) for standing up to that toxic bully and for showing us what a sad little coward he is.
Where I am, if you pulled over by police it's just embarrassing, rather than scary because the police over here are usually pretty chill
That old saying about there's a fine line between criminals & cops is sometimes true. And for the pay they get in most places, the main ones they're going to get are the ones who do it for the fun of pushing their weight around. Double the education requirements, give the good ones an opportunity to report the bad ones without retaliation & double the pay.
Sociopaths and bullies are well known to be attracted to certain types of work, and certain employers knowingly hire them (such as mortgage banks caught intentionally hiring sociopaths because they know they’d have no qualms about the job they wanted them for), and certain systems are basically just “the mad running the asylum”, such as police forces. The whole policing system needs to be razed and rebuilt with intent to hire PEACE officers, and not to create a racist, militarized system of “us vs them” bully-types.
