This Hero Flight Attendant Saved A Teenage Sex Slave After She Noticed This Tiny Detail
One quick-thinking flight attendant saved a teenage girl from human trafficking after noticing that something was wrong with the young passenger on her Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to San Francisco.
“Something in the back of my mind said something is not right,” Shelia Frederick, 49, from Alabama, told 10 News as she recalled the encounter from 2011. The girl, who seemed to be around 14 or 15 years old and “looked like she had been through pure hell” according to Shelia, was traveling with an older man who wouldn’t let her talk and answered all of Shelia’s questions for her. “He was well dressed, that’s what kind of got me because why is he well dressed and she is looking disheveled and out of sorts,” Frederick said.
Realizing she needed to act quickly, Shelia quietly told the girl to visit the bathroom where the flight attendant had left her a note on the mirror. “She wrote on the note she needed help,” said Frederick, who told the pilot about what had happened. They in turn alerted the San Francisco police, who were waiting in the terminal to question the man by the time the plane had landed. The girl is now attending college and is free from trafficking thanks to Shelia’s keen eye and smart thinking.
Between 600,000 and 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year. Around 80% are women and girls, and up to 50% are minors. “If you see something, say something,” Frederick said. (h/t)

Thank God this woman noticed something and acted. Here's hoping the new training helps save more lives from this dehumanising, filthy crime.
Modern 21st century countries, yep. It does. It's inter-connected, actually.
Load More Replies...This really made my day, a good news story with a happy ending. I'm not sure if all airlines train their staff to identify possible human trafficking victims, if they don't they should. This flight attendant changed this young girls life for the better! She's a hero indeed!
and I can't even get mine to bring me a ginger ale!?... just kidding, flight attendants are great and this one was amazing

As a mother of two girls, I have made a promise to myself and the universe to get more involved with issues affecting girls such as sex trafficking, female genital mutilation and forced marriages. In this day and age women still have a lot to fight for such as equal pay. But the issues of our bodies being violated is far more serious in my humble opinion. I thank God this woman was so vigilant, but it scares me that a news report last week says 60 new pop up brothels are happening in England every week. I fear how many of these women are from Eastern Europe who are forced to work in these terrible places.
I wish more girls were as lucky as this one to cross paths with people who actually SEE.
Human trafficking is beyond disgusting. God bless that woman and that girl. I hope she's continuing to be well.
Amazing. This is a example of what humanity should be like. Looking beyond your self and what you are doing and noticing others.
Great job Alaska Airlines! Hopefully the news would feature the correct plane to end their video next time...
Thank you Shelia for rescuing this girl. I know she will never forget you!! The world needs more people like, God bless you.
God is the joy and the strenght of our life he led me and guide me in misery and strife he never come short of his word. God had his hand on her life all the time when people think they can walk around and get away with this type of destruction God also have they reward too I bet he did not like his reward thank God for the air flight attened. Amen.
Thank God that Madame Shelia Frederick was on broad. To buy a sexual slave in the occidental countries, you must have money. Why don't airports check more carefully who is traveling with the child. Here in Switzerland, one can not leave the country without special traveling pass made by the local police. Even parents who don't travel together with their child have to go to the local police and have an authorization signed by both and proof that the child will come back to Switzerland.
This sort of thing happened to me in the 80's. I was coming back home from Paris on the TGV train (rapid trains, go up to 350 kilometers per hour). Sitting in the 2 seats in front of me was a man and little boy in his pajamas. The poor child kept telling the man that he did not know him and why did he take him in front of his garden whilst he was putting away his bike. The man would answer back to the child that he was his uncle and the boy told him over and over again that he had no uncles! So I got up from my seat to seek a train controller. Found one and told what was going on. The next stop was Lausanne. Waiting by the two exit doors of the wagon were policemen who handcuffed the guy and a social worker who took the child. I got off the train behind this horrible individual, he shouted at me that if he ever saw me again he would kill me. I didn't care, I would rather die than let an innocent child be taken by a douche bag!!!
I would have like 2 watch the video ,but I've be playing on a public library computer . It wouldn't let me . The article was a eye opener 4 me to be more aware n what 2 look for if someone is in need of help . Like that young girl .
