The poet John Lydgate once said "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." And you only need to look at these illustrations to realize how true that is.
They're drawn by artist and fashion designer Daisy Bernard, and they represent the fact that women are judged regardless of the expectations they try to live up to. Dress conservatively and you're frigid, but wear something revealing and you're obviously a slut. Likewise, women are often encouraged to be more assertive in the office, but when they are they're considered bossy. "Women are being told to take off their burkinis and undress on the beach," wrote Bernard in an article for The Tab. "But at the same time we should keep ourselves covered up, and shouldn’t show too much skin. These ridiculous expectations are created usually by men, and in many cases by other women too."

I seriously don't get the "she's going to leave and have kids" part. If you want her to stay, give her maternity leave, everyone wins, and a new person has a part time or temporary contract chance to build up some experience. While you don't really lose your experienced employee, and she knows she has a job position secured and waiting for her. Five of us were raised by both working parents, back in the 20th century. What happened?
I get the "you're too cold" so often lol I'm an introverted and socially awkward that's just how i am
At work I do find I really have the thread the needle. To a certain extent you have to accept that you will never live "up to" people's expectations and you should focus on your own.
"women are judged regardless of the expectations they try to live up to": humans in general are, in the different roles they take. There is not a single issue you would not at least find two strong opinions on. Guy in suit? Arrogant capitalist. Guy in jogging pants? Hobo. Child finishing school way ahead of the others? Geek. Child finishing school later than the others? R****d. Just collecting sterotypes does not help. Living every situation with an awareness that treating everyone with respect does!
I am a teenager and got so many pimples. People always told me to wash my face more often; I washed it two times a day and I own so many things for it. Now I started to cover it up with makeup and suddenly I'm a s**t, basic white girl, etc. What the fluff am I supposed to do?!
i've been hearing most of these comment come from women. enough said
Overpopulation creates natural birth control, such as memes to discourage sexual attraction. The science here is amazing; the artist and people involved are unconscious of their instincts that lead them to create such birth control articles. This meme will lower confidence in both men and women, lead to suspicions of one another, discourage romance, and lower the statistical odds of sex and procreation. A true story in psychology.
These people who are saying these things are just judgemental and don't know what they want in people. Just keep on walking.
Basically, "Damned if you do & Damned if you don't" catch 22 situation.
People stereotype and judge people all the time. This does't apply just for women.
Tis always your choice to accept opinions. You know what is wrong? You filter out all the bad things and after an hour forget everything good. You shall think more positively. If all the things you think about is your insecurities because of others' words -- it is not just your fault ; it is yours ,too. Remember, we're all developed from our a******s. You can't blame anyone about what inspired our construction from being mere embryos. Focus on doing what you're doing.Instead of being such a huge mess.I am speaking the same way to create realization for you.

Am I the only one who thinks that people don't REALLY care? If a woman comments bad things on another woman, she's mainly jealous, she didn't actually take time to really look at the other woman. And if a man is sexist is because he feels intimidated by the woman or he's angry at her. People don't usually have us under a magnifying glass and judge us, they just say things to make themselves feel better. Because to be honest, no one really has ever perceived me in a correct way, it's always been an extreme. If I was a kilo overweight I was called "fat", if I was a kilo underweight I was "too skinny". When you look good, mostly no one tells you that you look good, because they are jealous. I noticed that the less pretty people get more praises on their Fb pics, simply because they are not envied or hated upon. So let's care less about what others say, because unfortunately we cannot change people's perception and the world is anyways full of unexplained hatred and people WILL talk.
isn't this a little over reacted? like why would you even care if people say that IN CASE the people who say that are not your friends (now that people we trust tend to light up a few things of us that we don't tend to notice) And of course not forgeting that random people walking among us on the street will give a damn FnCK about how others are dressed. Don't overthink how you look. for real nobody cares
Hmm I get some of them might be gender specific but others are fairly neutral. For example: "you're so clever it's intimidating" - how is that sexist? You could say that about any man or woman. "you're so talented it's intimidating!" - works the same. another: "You're so cold" - Men and Women can be cold, not sure how that's gender specific. "Why don't you stick up for yourself" - yeah guys are always good at sticking up for themselves right? We always confident. All the time. Anyway that's not to say a good number are not gender specific.
damn it it's not about gender it's about people judging each other all the time ps. s**t like this makes me ashamed to be a woman since it shows that most woman can't just do like most man and just ignore such useless comments.... thats how stupid stuff like "its hard to be a woman on the internet" gets created =_= (the dislike button is right there, go on, I don't really care.. continue lying to yourself if thats the only thing that makes you feel a bit better about yourself)
