Elon Musk And Grimes Welcomed Their Second Child, And The Internet Was Blessed With These 30 Reactions

Elon Musk has 7 children in total, 6 of which are sons. One of them is X AE A-XII, pronounced X A.I. Archangel or X for short,  born in 2020 that everyone has heard about because people were quite shocked that names resembling a house appliance model can be given to children. The other 5 are Griffin, Xavier, Kai, Saxon and Damian.

The latest member of the family is Exa Dark Sideræl. She was born in December of last year and it seems that the couple was not prepared to announce the news just yet, but Grimes couldn’t deny it when during an interview with Vanity Fair, the interviewer, Devin Gordon heard a baby crying.

He heard it for the first time 15 minutes into the conversation, but ignored it. After a few minutes he heard it again and since he has two children himself he clearly recognized that it was really an infant crying. Devin Gordon collected himself and asked the awkward question.

Grimes didn’t want to say anything at first because she feels that family matters should stay private as she saw what happened with X AE A-XII being all over the internet, but she didn’t deny that the baby Devin Gordon heard was hers and Elon’s.

The daughter’s full name is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk and it is a thought out combination. Exa refers to exaFLOPS, a term most often used when talking about the performance of supercomputer systems. Dark refers to the dark matter and the unknown. The third name, pronounced “sigh-deer-ee-el” is an elven spelling of sidereal, “the true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative earth time.” The short version is just Y, but in addition to Y the parents sometimes call her Sailor Mars.

Grimes’ first thought was to name their child Odysseus as a girl with that name is her dream and  Exa Dark Sideræl was a compromise that she still thinks might be too boring. But Grimes is realistic and realises that the girl might not like her name when she grows up and the mom is prepared for Y to want to change her name, she even will help her choose the new one.

Not only was the child’s name a shock to people, they were also confused about Elon’s and Grimes’ relationship as everyone thought they were divorced. In the Vanity Fair interview she explains that Elon is her boyfriend, her best friend and they are “very fluid” but live in separate houses.

Turns out, that the couple got divorced again, since the interview was posted and Grimes herself announced it on her Twitter: “Me and E have broken up *again* since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now, I think Devin wrote that part of the story rly well.”
