Amazon Is Selling Dog Onesies That Protect Your House From Shedding And Helps Reduce Their Anxiety
There are a million benefits to owning a dog; companionship, exercise, fun and cuddles, just to name a few. Compared to these puppy pros there are far fewer canine cons; however one of them would have to be the hair. For certain breeds at least shedding can turn your once spotless house into a festival of fur, for which the tidy up just never ends.

The Shed Defender is essentially a onesie for your dog. “The patent pending Shed Defender is a onesie that contains the dog’s hair within the suit to reduce the shedding, perfect for in the house, car, or anywhere you don’t want to leave a trail of hair!” reads the description on Amazon.

“It helps to reduce anxiety – the snug fit and gentle pressure gives the dog a calming effect.”

“It can replace the medical cone – covering hot spots, post surgery, preventing scratching and itching, protecting and alleviating allergies and skin conditions.”

The cozy onesie also protect your dog from ticks in the summer, keeps them warm and toasty in the snowy winters, and allows them to roll in the mud without causing too much of a fuss. What more could you ask for?

Available in a range of sizes for all breeds, the Shed Defender retails at around £45 (around $55) and has proven so popular that they are rather difficult to find at the moment! But if you can get your hands on one, your doggy is sure to appreciate it, and you might just find your cleaning time cut in half. Truly a win-win!

Most people and their dogs loved the onesie
While other people were unhappy about the quality of the product as well as their dogs’ reactions to it
Some reviews were glowing in their praise for the product, with the primary purpose of reducing shedding seemingly working a treat. It seems that not all dogs were entirely happy about the situation though. If your dog doesn’t take to the onesie, best not to force them to wear it. It’s also important to check with the vet first. What’s more important, a few hairs or your dog’s happiness?
You can buy the onesie in various sizes on Amazon
If you don't want your dog shedding all over the house - don't get a dog. If you brush them regularly and, shock, use a vacuum cleaner regularly it's hardly a big deal. Dogs aren't meant to wear clothing - they come with their own fur coat. The thundercoats for calming, didn't work on my dog but it probably does on some and anything for medical benefits, fine! Otherwise, let your dog be natural!!
It's laziness - most people don't realise how often a dog should be brushed. To dress them purely to stop shedding in your home? These are people who really don't deserve a doggo.
Load More Replies...The owners who have problems with their pets shedding should not own a pet then. I agree with that -thing- (onesie/jumpsuit/weird-looking-second-skin, you name it) being helpful after surgeries, with allergies and any other medical conditions, but just to prevent the dog from shedding? Sheesh. No matter how good the material is, it will limit the ability of the dog's skin to breathe. If your dog sheds, it means you should brush him/her more and invest in some deshedding tools instead of this. That's my opinion. I can't even cope putting my mainecoon in such clothing, just cause they shed enormously. I don't know, I find it a lack of respect towards them :D
My dog just stopped moving when we tried a thundercoat, wouldn't move. Freezing is not a happy reaction.
Load More Replies...Stroking a dog (or any pet) is good for both human and animal. Why cover up an animals beautiful, natural coat. People can get breeds that aren't known for shedding. Dogs aren't here for us to dress up - for goodness sake if you want to do that get a doll. Maybe the anxiety coats work but they shouldn't need to be in them all the time. If your dog is constantly anxious then you need to get the poor thing help. Licking habits, allergies and wounds - you do need to help an animal manage those sorts of things but when I had a dog who was allergic to a lot of things we managed her condition without the need to make her wear a coat that would have distressed her more.
Are you f*****g kidding me? Please tell me that is a joke! If you‘re so bothered by your dog‘s hair, don‘t get a dog! This is ridiculous and outrageous. Dogs scratch themselves, lick themselves, nose at each other etc., and while none of that is prevented by that c**p, it is seriously hindered by it. And did they ever think about the dogs’ body temperature? ‚Protects from summer ticks’ my a*s. These poor souls will be hot inside the house, and then be cold outside when the onesie is taken off because their fur won‘t be adapted to lower temperatures. I‘m so angry right now. That is animal abuse.
I imagine how uncomfortable the dog will feel with with this thing on. Why would anyone do this to his\her beloved pet? Just brush it more often.
After reading the comments, I don't think anyone wants to buy one of these anyway.
Load More Replies...Fur here and there is part of living with a pet. If you have a problem with your pet shedding, don't get a pet. I wouldn't even use this for an occasional car ride, rather just cover the car and then do the cleaning instead of dress my pet into this. I don't even see how this would be good for helping with any medical conditions - a good vet will provide you with the right care and equipment for actual treatment.
This would be a terrible, terrible idea in hot weather considering that dogs can't sweat, according to a Vet in a vid I saw yesterday. Besides, I love running my fingers through their fur, and they love it too.
That vet was correct. It‘s why dogs pant - it‘s their equivalent of us sweating.
Load More Replies...Oh good grief. I just read the review where the owner used this to stop her dogs from mating. NEUTER AND SPAY YOU IDIOT!!! OR DON'T HAVE DOGS!!
So many unwanted cats and dogs in this world already.
Load More Replies...Came to the comment section to scream how stupid this is, but everything has already been said, thanks folks ! :-)
I have an epic shedder, he's half golden retriever half spaniel. He's molting right now, big fluffy clumps of fur waft through the air when he walks by. Do I love this aspect? No. Would I make my dog miserable and shove him into an uncomfortable, straight jacket looking onesie to make life easier for me? Hell no. This is ridiculous.
I seriously do not get this....why adopt if you're bothered by shedding? Plus I am really not sure how healthy this is and how the furballs are supposed to regulate their temperature?!
I've considered getting a thunder shirt for my dog. He's 9 and seems to get worse and worse with noises as he ages. He tolerated the vacuum as a puppy but his runs to get on someone's lap (not easy at 50 lbs.) and we have weekly fireworks nearby :( and thunderstorms turn him into a puddle. But he's extremely smart and I guess one of my concerns is that he would start to associate putting on the thunder shirt with those sounds. Meaning, is it possible tf putting on the shirt would add to the stress by association, anyone know if this could happen? Right now we bury him under pillows and blankets and this fort and our proximity seems to help. Feel bad for anxious dogs like him. Also hate weekly fireworks as far as pollution, our local strip mall does them. Lots of dogs are stressed out by them.
And Helps Reduce Their Anxiety........... I've gotta call Bs , stop the nonsense.
Really weird...i doubt it is loved by animals... and if one have problems with shedding, then better forget to have animals! This is so stupid.
In have a huge furry shedding beast of a dog. Fur everywhere is a part of my life, but I would never subject him to one of these things. He really hates being brushed and groomed too, too bad doggo! He would be so mad at me if I ever tried this with him.
Dog-anxiety?!?!?!? WTF?!?! Dogs FEED of the energy of the owner! IF you are an anxiety driven stressed out insecure wimp, the main problem is YOU! I get that BP needs some revenue from Amazon ads, no issue here. But WHY these kinds of utter moronic posts? Do not cover up your dog like this! It has fur for a reason! If people don't like the shedding of lovely furry animals TAKE some FISH as your house pet!
Nope. I'm sweating just looking at them. If you don't want to deal with hair don't get the dog.
Anyone who wants to hide their dog's glorious fur and make them uncomfortable just to keep the house or car cleaner, is SELFISH.
Did Jeff Besos (Amazon) buy Bored Panda? This is like the 6th Amazon post I've seen in a week.
Some of these dogs look actually stressed out, the panting and the whale eyes being examples of the dog not feeling comfortable at all. I don't trust half of the dog owners to actually understand their pets and their behaviour. Stop humanising your dogs!
Load More Replies...Looks ridiculous. I would not buy one. Brush your dog every day. That will help with shedding.
:( These dogs look so unhappy! If people want a pet that doesn't shed and is low maintenance, they should get a tortoise!
Even if I could manage to get my dog in this, there is no way I'd be able to undress him every time he had to poo. Also, I don't know whether he is going to poo or just pee when he goes out so this would just be a huge hassle. Is this sponsored content?
Their behind and, for male dogs, all their bits are uncovered so that they can go to the bathroom without need for human assistance. It's actually a well-designed creation. Like I said, we used ours for medical purposes, which was, in my opinion, the only legitimate use for it, but it really was helpful, and no problems at all for our dog. She could go outside and do her business while wearing it and never peed or pooped on it. We washed it regularly, but it stayed remarkably clean, all things considered.
Load More Replies...Yeah... the shedding thing is kind of ridiculous to me, and I doubt the anti-anxiety powers it claims to possess, however I'm intrigued to give it a try as an alternative to a cone... also how does it cool in the summer AND warm in the winter?
There's surgical clothes for dogs to wear instead of cones. My dog has one I bought when she was recovering from spaying. Hers doesn't cover the paws nor the privates, and has a large velcro across the back to split it open. It''s really just a cover for her torso so she wouldn't lick her stitches.
Load More Replies...Bought one for my 10 lb yorkie after her spayed and she got severe matted
This is SO cute! It's a great compromise for people who want to dress their dog but want their dog to stay comfortable at the same time! I bet you can also iron-on designs and patches, which is nice too.
This is a very very bad idea. Dog temperatures run high compared to humans. They should never be put in something like this...I mean, unless you want your dog to die. Doesn't anyone ever notice in the summer time if you don't have your air conditioner running the dog is always panting... it's because they're f***ing hot. don't put your dogs in body suits please. Be responsible!
I don't think it's healthy for any pet to stay for a long time in those. It may be useful for post-operation and maybe to avoid an unwanted pregnancy as suggested (but in that case it would better to just cover the necessary area), pets have their own way of auto regulating their temperature and their skin needs transpiration, imagine being all day in a neoprene diving suit... It may be convenient for humans, but I doubt pets are feeling good in them. If you want to avoid hairs on the sofa or car, put a blanket on it.
If you dress your dog up you've lost the plot..... I'll just assume you are an idiot and I'll feel nothing but pity for the poor thing.
Never mind. I just clicked on the thing and answered my own question, very near the bottom (no pun intended).
Load More Replies...I wonder.. How do they pee? When i took m dog for neutering i bought a surgery coat to avoid him to lick the stiches, but his genitalia were exposed so he could go for his needs when want. But with that piece of thing it can't simpl pee, it must be very unconfortable for a dog to wear it for a long time. I mean, i like to put some clothes in my dog, once in a while, but not that covers his entire body.
She really doesn't. That woman doesn't have a clue how to look after a dog.
Load More Replies...Why does Bored Panda keep showing pet gimmick c**p that Amazon sells like the awful muzzles etc. If you have a problem with dog hair, don't have a dog and surely a dog will still scratch or chew something irritated even if wearing this rubbish or may want to harmlessly groom? Onesies are a human fad, not animal
We have a greyhound who got snapped at by another dog, which tore the skin on the back of her (very muscular) thigh. It was impossible to keep a bandage on it -- until we got one of these Shed Defenders. She didn't like it, but she wore it and it covered her bandages and the nasty wound completely, and was comfortable for her. She ended up having to wear it for about 2 months until the wound healed (and the subsequent three surgeries -- yes, just to fix a tiny nip in her skin, but it was in a terrible place!). I would never get one just to stop a dog shedding all over, but for the medical purposes we needed it for, it was truly a lifesaver. So I recommend it for that; it really made our life and our dog's life a lot easier!
Medical reasons are the only ones that make any sense whatsoever. The animal probably won't like it but it will give them a chance to heal. Hope your lovely greyhound is completely better now.
