Scared Of Coronavirus, Chinese People Have Started Putting Masks On Their Pets
According to the live map that tracks the spread of coronavirus (2019-nCoV), there are nearly 10,000 people currently infected with the virus. There have also been over 200 deaths after people contracted the virus which causes such symptoms as fever, cough and shortness of breath and conditions varying from people being mildly sick to people being severely ill and dying.
Since the initial cases had links to a large seafood and animal market in Wuhan, the virus is thought to originate in animals, but such information has not been officially confirmed. According to Wikipedia, “Comparisons of genetic sequences between this virus and other virus samples have shown similarities to SARS-CoV (79.5%) and bat coronaviruses (96%),” because of this, it’s highly likely that bats were the origin of the current virus devastating China.
As coronavirus is rapidly spreading, it is reported that Chinese dog owners are rushing to buy face masks for their dogs

Despite the fact that the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that there is no evidence suggesting house animals can be infected with the new strain of coronavirus, Chinese people have still gone one step further to protect their pets from a potential threat. Sales of pet masks have reportedly skyrocketed since the initial outbreak of the coronavirus and don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Zhou Tianxiao, a 33-year-old online retailer from Beijing, reported that he’s selling ten times the amount of dog masks than he usually did before the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus. The man initially sold masks designed specifically for dogs to help protect the pooches from air pollution, a business he started back in 2018 on e-commerce site Taobao.

“[The dog masks] might not be as professional as the medical masks made for humans, but they are functional,” Zhou told MailOnline. The retailer sells the dog masks at the price of 49 yuan ($7) for a pack of three.

Zhou Tianxiao also said that the main purpose of the masks is “to block out smog, stop dogs from eating or licking food on the floor and prevent them from being exposed to the virus”.

But due to hysteria, pets are being killed now, because rumor has it.. they can spread the virus :(

I not one of thous masks for my dog to help her I am not silly as she part of my family I am allso not one for myself we need to protect ourselves at this time
This is animal abuse. I have reported it to the ASPCA and PETA. They can barely breathe and cannot pant. They can overheat and over time this can be fatal. This is neither cute, smart, or funny.
This Is kinda dumb. The pets can’t get covid or spread it. This just makes them uncomfortable.
Putting masks on pets is just stupid. If you were that scared of covid -19 then why don't you just stay home and not make your pets suffer when they don't have to and if they need to go on a walk then just stay away from others and don't let your pet touch public things. It really makes me mad that pets are having to wear masks when we haven't even had any pet give it to a human that we know of. #2020 FAILURE was having 2020.
Barking Up Wrong Tree: Many pet owners might consider their dog a member of the family, but Brazilian Labor Minister Antonio Magri apparently takes the notion literally. Magri, known for his frequent foot-in-mouth statements, was asked by a radio interviewer in Rio de Janeiro why his wife had used a government van to take the family dog to the vet. “Anybody would have done it,” Magri sniffed. “A dog is a human being like anyone else.” https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-05-27-vw-1660-story.html
I'm amazed that their dogs are well behaved to use that, if I we're to put that in our dog they will just rip it out in my hand before I could put it in their heads.
no one want their pets to be the first to proof that this virus can be transmitted to animals. Plus if they are uncomfortable in it, they can easily remove the mask themselves.
you dummy if they don't like it then you are going to make them struggle getting it off and if people were worried about it enough then someone would experemet to see if pets can get it.

Please keep your pets busy at home so they don't get the virus outside bunny-5e69...d045d4.png
it has not been proven that pets can get it and no I am not staying home and my dogs are no exception. I take my 3 dogs on daily walks in public places and I don't stay "6 feet apart" and I don't even wear a god damn mask
Load More Replies...i think the concern is taking the pet out onto the streets and meeting up with maybe an infected animal...
What infected animals??? oh you can't even name one can you sweetheart:(
