Doctors work long hours and have to deal with all types of challenges, including annoying, pretentious and ignorant patients. While we all can agree that being a doctor is a noble profession, even this honorable group gets tired of people.

"Medicine... the IT of humanity...?" Does that include turning the humans off and then on again?! I'm not sure that strategy works particularly well... ;-)
I work in IT. The "emergency" calls are ridiculous, including the all too common....is it plugged in? People expect an IT person to know everything about every program or piece of hardware that has ever existed and assume that every problem has a simple "flip a switch" fix.
John Smith = Boring.
I would say to John Smith to F himself, but i bet he has no dick.
I NEVER had ANY problem with any IT people helping me. The operative word here is "helping". Why would anyone be a d**k to someone trying to help them. Answer: because they can. It's not face to face, so people can be themselves. Amazing what a little anonymity can do.
I know this will sound funny, but you reminded me of an episode of Matlock where he was helping his IT/programming and highly intelligent nephew. He kept asking the nephew to fix his manual pencil sharpener. The nephew kept saying "That's mechanical..I wouldn't know the first thing about it." Just because a person is intelligent in one area does not make them an expert in other areas. Everyone has their specialty. And I think the term you are looking for hhjones43 is..it's was more often than not a PICNIC (problem in chair not in computer.)
High five, Katrin, same here. My husband has a PhD in robotics. So tech and so nerd. ♥
And John Smith the troll strikes again
But computers are horrible, badly made, badly programmed, an badly behaved tools that are inaccessible to most people without specialist skills. I’m saying this as a former IT person who got sick of it all. I side with the users. They’re much nicer when you treat them like people who just happen to not have the same specialist knowledge you have.
I don't even work in IT but because I like tech my friends and family often call me. One time my dad was really angry that his speakers weren't working. I asked if they were plugged in correctly - that made him more angry. He put my sister in the phone and I asked her to tell me where he plugged it in. Turned out he had plugged them into the microphone port. My dad called me from the UK while I was in japan for this 'emergencyy'
That's why the first thing you do when they call is ask for ID. If they're shitheads, escalate them.

suck it up, hhjones43, nobody likes you tech nerds anyways
It does work just fine. 1528471168...23-png.jpg
Excellent!
First check if they're even plugged in (and also if they've turned on their brain)
Actually yes, there is a procedure called a chemical cardioversion, (you stop a patient's heart on purpose with chemicals and restart it)
Scary shit, I cried every time i saw it done. ....after, later in private. Tears of relief.
Technically that's what cpr is
This person needs to find another line of work. They are burned out. My mom worked as an ER nurse for years when I was a kid. She knew it was time to go when she got like this person. A lot of what is wrong in E.R.s in America is because of our poor healthcare system. Overbooked General practitioners, specialists with year long waiting lists and deductibles that are so high people wait until they absolutely have to go somewhere.
I left nursing and went into forensics. The work was much less stressful. I still have trouble eating rice though.
Had a job which involved seeing photographs of animal cruelty - absolutely heart breaking. I too struggled with rice.
"People are bastard coated bastards with a bastard filling." Not sure whether to laugh or cry
I'll do both.
