My wonderful father often kissed me as a child and always made such an effort to let me he loved me. We were never a really rich family in money but in love we were trillionaires. I've never been comfortable with this personally. But, then again, I think small children are gross(and I have 3 of my own). Always sticky, and dripping in drool and snot. No telling what germs they have picked up from other kids. I'm not going to tell other parents to stop, but maybe don't judge me when I don't kiss your kid on the mouth. My sister gets mad that I only kiss my niece on the cheek or head.
I don't think the objection was that he kissed his daughter, but rather that he kissed his daughter ON THE LIPS. There is a big difference. I know this is normal to many, many people, but some people were raised that this is not appropriate. I was raised that way. All kisses were on the cheek, except for my mom kissing my dad. There was plenty of love in my family, but I guess I had always been kissed on the cheek so I never thought it was strange. To this day, I do not kiss others on the lips (except my husband). It may be because my mom was a germaphobe, or that she had another, deeper reason. As an adult, I have seen so many people do this that I know it is natural. However, no one needs to brow beat anyone on where or how they kiss someone else. I'm all for hugs and kisses, on or off the lip! I do. I might be considered narrow minded or whatever, but I don't understand it. There are many ways you can show affection to a child, kiss their cheeks, forehead, hands... Why lips? As a child I found it extremely gross when an adult tried to do that, had an old aunt who did. I associate lips kissing with romantic stuff between adults. Yeah it still creeps me out when I see people kissing their children on the lips. Especially past a certain age....I think it's really a cultural thing, i'm from France and I have never, ever seen anyone do that, whereas it seems like it's a common occurance in other countries.

Imho, probably the wrong time to kiss your kids on the lips is when they are extremely young, let's say from few hours from birth till they are like 1-2 y.o. And that just because an adult mouth can be filled of bacteria and virus thousands times more than a just-born mouth. The gesture in itself is a gesture of love and affection, nothing more, nothing else, with the exception of that 0.001% of parents that are not totally ok with their crooked minds....but this is another story.

Maybe its up to the family to decide how they greet and show each other affection. Personally my family have always been cheek kissers but we are Italian so that kind of makes sense but no even as a kid we weren't kissed on the lips. He said his parents never once told him. When I started dating my husband I was thrown off by how much his family and he touched. It took me years to get use to how often he hugged, touched, and kissed me. My family had a large bubble and showed very little physical affection and limited emotional affection, but the strange thing is that I believe I felt equally as loved as my husband did as a child. Different families just have different ways of showing love. My family showed theirs through endless sarcasm and mocking, we couldn't say we loved you, but we all felt loved regardless. To each their own, do what feels right for you. Kiss, hug, or mock to your hearts desire.

Seems to me that this Pierce Morgan guy can turn the purest things into something smutty. I don't like him. I don't think he likes himself and then finds something ugly in just about anything. He looks through horrible eyes. My opinion.
For me, a kiss on the lip is intimate. Instead it should be a kiss on the cheek.
Piers Morgan is the one promoting himself here as a guy who doesn't have anything good to do with his life apart from being bitter and b****y. If he thinks it's creepy to kiss your children, he's actually the creepy one for thinking it's creepy because for sure he has other thoughts in his head that are far creepier than the words he says on social media. He needs a potato.
I find it disturbing that people are so involved in this. Who gives a sh*t about what a child and parent does to show affection for one another?
Oh also I would have given ANYTHING to have a father that showed affection to me that would have been amazing and in my opinion if you don't like it then don't do it but certainly don't talk down to another man for showing his child he loves her in a completely healthy appropriate way!!!
David and Harper Beckham have always seemed ultra close (although he seems equally close to his boys). I don't see one thing wrong with them kissing like that. If anything, it's really sweet that she adores him so much. That one dad was right, Piers Morgan is a tit.

My daughter, when she got a bit older, she started to turn up her cheek or present her forehead instead and that’s how we roll now. My son still kisses me on the lips and I will let him as long as he’s comfortable with it. They are my flesh and blood, I would die for them. As the father of a young girl I see no harm in this. I do the same thing because there is no limit to a parent's love for their child. Plus I think a father should be a young girl's male model, I doubt any man will ever love and treat her the same way I do. It's just the problem with most people nowadays, it's so easy to criticize others that they do it unconsciously.
f**k this, it IS creepy. Just kiss on the cheek. Lips are reserved for lovers. They eat out their wives then go and kiss their daughters on the lips. I don't care what anyone says (and i don't know who this piers dude is) but f**k off, why are we trying to normalise kissing your kids on the lips?
Simple solution to all these discussions: Stop posting pictures of your familylife on social media.
That's only going to happen If the child is underaged and the person she's kissing is a pedophile. But generally kids don't go around kissing people on the lips. Of course you can go the other mile and make everything that kids do "a sexual thing". Like sitting on someone's lap, giving a hug or even just saying "I love you". As kids often do.
