Person Shares How Dave Chappelle Schooled A Privileged White Girl On Police Brutality
Dave Chappelle, with his sharp mind, unapologetic sense of humor, and godlike rhetoric, has the ability to captivate an audience like… Chappelle’s stand-ups have always brought important social issues to light, allowing people to not only laugh their hair off but recalibrate their political compass as well.
Earlier this week, comedian Kenny DeForest turned to Twitter to share a powerful moment in the show during which Chappelle “changed everyone in [the] room”. DeForest described a particular moment when a heckler interrupted Chappelle’s speech on police brutality by yelling, “Life’s hard, sorry ’bout it!” The black comedian took his time to respond and handled the situation with class, teaching the whole crowd a valuable lesson in compassion.

Chappelle has masterfully demonstrated that education is key to deconstructing racial narratives.
Evelyne Heyer, professor of the National Museum of Natural History of France, studied the scientific evidence against the notion of race, which has resulted in practices ranging from discrimination to extermination of the other throughout history. Heyer thinks that the role of education at all social levels — and in particular of young generations — remains one of the best ways to stop the proliferation of racism and to foster intercultural exchanges.
“Races do not exist in the sense we thought in the 19th century, but even if the word ‘race’ is removed, racism will continue to exist. The term ‘race’ has a history, so we need to use this concept, if only to deconstruct it,” Heyer said at a UNESCO round table.

According to the professor, the DNA of all human beings is 99.9% identical, and we all are of African origin, dating back 100,000 years. The 0.1% of differences in the genomes of people from across the world suggests that the notion of race is not justifiable.
“Racism is not just about skin color, but about discrimination against individuals who are physically, culturally, or morally different,” Heyer added, saying that our genetic diversity is merely the result of adaptations to environments and our geographical origins.

I appreciate his kindness and patience with that girl. He was firm and gave an important lesson but did not treat her badly. Not many can say they would be this cool after being insulted
Perhaps the best part of the story is that Dave gave the okay for the young woman to come back to the green room and had a DIALOGUE with her. He listened as well as spoke. This is wonderful.
Sometimes it's hard to let yourself be educated, to set aside your thoughts and feelings and just LISTEN. There is no better time than now to do just that. I am preaching to myself on this one.
Education is beautiful thing. I'm proud of the courage that Dave Chappelle has always had to speak truth to power. Thank you, Dave Chappelle. Thank you a thousand times.
Powerful!! Anyone can unlearn hate for love is more powerful than hate!!!!
Communication is so important. Michael Obama said something like it's easy to hate at a distance, harder to hate up close. Well, it may work the other way around in some cases but at least it would be a more educated decision.
Just who is Micheal Obama? We are, of course familiar with the Former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, graduate of Princeton University (A.B.) and Harvard University (J.D.), but we’re not familiar with Michael. Please elaborate...perhaps you meant Michelle. It is indeed easy for some to hate at a distance, especially when one can hide behind a social media identity. Ignorance is not bliss.

If (rather than shouting at each other) more people would take time to CALMLY try to educate the misinformed AND if more misinformed would listen to the lessons that are being given we could achieve a critical mass of progress towards a more peaceful and loving world.
The last time (2016) that a black dude was killed by a cop here in Mn. He was a guy out with his best girl and her 4 yo daughter, who was stopped by a cop who thought he looked like the guy who robbed a store in the area at gunpoint. Description he based it on? Black guy with dreadlocks and wide nose--that probably has 1200 guys to consider--the suspect was in his 40's tall(5'10"+) 220+weight dreadlocks that were messy . Mr Castile was 32 5'7" or so,150# or so in spite of just having his dreadlocks groomed that afternoon, pictures that were shared during the days that followed with the news stories had him with groomed dreadlocks. That cop was TOTALLY wrong in pulling him over that night ,on the ruse of a nonfuntucting taillight. That summer if a description of a bald, white man, with a 'Fu man shu' mustache went out--my two brothers and son would be included. Yet one was born in the 60's another born in the 70's and my son in the 80's--they are different in height and weight. Unjust!
His South African friend doesn't happened to be Trevor Noah, does he? Looking at Dave Chapelle and Trevor Noah, one would think that some Comedian these days are far better as journalist than many journalist.
Where do poeple like that lives. That s**t was all over the news how can she not know that.
You'd be surprised at how many people... just don't pay attention to things, and couldn't care less. If they work all day. If they play all day. If they simply don't give damn about news or current events. Many people in the world don't care what happens in the US if it's not an immediate threat to their own country.
