Dad Turns His Sons’ Doodles Into Anime Characters, And The Result Is Amazing (Part IV)
Regular visitors to Bored Panda will no doubt be familiar with the incredibly cool drawings of Thomas Romain. He's a French anime artist living in Tokyo who's worked on popular anime characters from various series including Space Dandy, Basquash!, and Aria, but his best drawing ideas are the ones that come from his sons.
Working together in what he calls the Father And Sons Design Workshop, Thomas and his kids come up with an eclectic assortment of funny, creepy, and sometimes downright bizarre character designs. Well, it's actually his children who think of them, and then Thomas adds his professional touch to turn them into creative anime drawings - from one-eyed beasts and plant monsters to giant robots and pink-haired hoverboarders. Check out some of our favorite fantasy creatures below, and don't forget to vote for the best! I don't know which I admire more...the son's imagination or the dad's talent
That was my question as well. Both have such amazing talent. The child has pure imagination and is learning his skills so well. The father's skills are simply amazing and I would love to see some of his own ideas too. Simply amazing.
Load More Replies...All kids sometimes draw dark stuff like this. Isn't judge a book by its cover.
Load More Replies...I'm a huge anime addict n there's nothing better than the unthinkable and the best part about these drawings is the imagination of a kid with the artistic hand of an adult
a kid designed that? its very good! could've been a good antihero character in a manga.
This is my favorite, and I don't know why. I guess because there's more of a story going on in this one.
The child drew a character with hoofed feet with a pumpkin head skewered on a sword. Wow!
I would absolutely watch a TV show or movies based on these characters!
Reminds me of when I was a kid in the 80s, I made my own line of Masters Of The Universe original characters drawings :D
i love that the dad put in every detain just adding a "professional touch"
I don't know whether to be jealous of their talent, or just happy that they're doing something cool with it
The son will beat the father one day ( if this is anything to go by). Kind of like Star Wars
Load More Replies...I'm picturing a series of graphic novels, where the kid draws his version, and they come to life as the dad's version
kinda like the sons better tbh. much neater and visually pleasing.
I hated mimics in dungeons & dragon games. this looks just them....gorgeous artwork.
Looks a bit like The Luggage in the Discworld series Terry Pratchett, only this one has eyes like a crab. Brilliant!
If they made a Gravity falls themed game, this is bill cipher's final form
Why isn't this guy drawing his own comic strip, or comic book? His skill is exemplary.
It says in the description at the top of the article that he's an anime artist.
Load More Replies...reminds me of onix, but with arms and 2 sets of wings and an extra eye... M E G A O N Y X
He pretended his son doesn't draw nazi symbols on caterpillar. That's lighting guys ) yeeess, lighting
He and his son should be writing comic books or childrens books. Before the kid looses his imagination.
I like the ones that he makes anime out of really messy drawings from the kid
i just cackled. so loudly. thank you for that.
Load More Replies...it's like eric carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" in the Space Age. love this.
I LOVED the first round & these make a double dose of fun. His son has a rich, vivid, imagination & talent. Another artist's occupation as a grown-up ???
Surely growing up around an illustrator makes you more imaginative. Also he probably copies his Dad's creations, as any child would.
Load More Replies...I WANNA BE A DAD LIKE THAT. (Not to mention that I'm a teenage girl with absolutely no talent, but one can dream.)
You can be a mom like him! Don't need special talents, but be supportive yo
Load More Replies...:o Waao he should really sell these to gaming companies to make their charakters more interesting. Would love to see these in a new Final Fantasy. *-*
Actually I'm not so convinced that those doodles are the kids creation. If you pay close attention there are small details in those drawings like the are with a really firm hand, and in other way they look like intentionally made like that.
Good eye, I think his father may have helped him drawing some of the parts... Like check out the hands of the electron monster on picture #11 and now compare these line with the faint thin scribbly lines on the monster's body.
Load More Replies...His son is progressing nicely. Won't be too long before he can produce work of his Father's quality. I bet they will have some other worldly looking collaborations.
I want to see all of them in either video games, cards and or cartoons/anime!
His son has a beautiful imagination, something that isn't common nowadays.
The imagination and talent you two have is absolutely unbelievable. I'm a little sad that there's no comic books or cartoons starring your creations!
