Reptiles may not look like your typical ‘cute pet’ material, but this lovely lizard is here to prove that theory wrong. The savannah monitor named Manuel loves snuggles – his bath time is just “awwe” and he rocks tiny outfits!
“When I saw the conditions in which the lizard was kept by his previous owner, I could not leave him there so I took him,” Manuel’s owner Astya Lemur told Bored Panda. “He was very angry and sick but I cared for him, and now he is a healthy and happy lizard!”
“Manuel is able to come to my voice and knows how to ask for food, or a bath,” Lemur explained. “He loves when I stroke him. Especially behind the ears. He can show whether he likes it or not! He loves to swim in the bathtub. And dig the dirt in its terrarium. He’s very curious and loves to explore all around.” Isn’t he adorable?
Meet Manuel, the lizard who’ll change the way you see reptiles
He loves snuggling with his human mom Astya Lemur
Just like a cat would!
“Manuel is able to come to my voice and knows how to ask for food, or a bath,” his owner Lemur told Bored Panda
All he wants is cuddles…
…a lot of them!
“He loves to swim in the bathtub”
And sleep with his human
And be petted…
Besides cuddles, savannah monitors need special care
“Big terrarium, a lot of heat, dirt for digging, humidity, and proper nutrition,” Lemur explained
“He’s very curious and loves to explore all around”
Did we mention that he also rocks tiny outfits?
He’s good selfie material, too
Isn’t he adorable?
Thank you, Astya Lemur, for talking to Bored Panda about your adorable lizard!

Load More Replies...We had a bearded dragon that loved being wrapped in a towel/blanket after his bath and would snuggle down against my neck for a nap. So sweet! Manuel definitely appreciates the love and affection he is getting now! Great job with him!
I haves bearded dragon too!! She loves to sit on my lap and watch tv!
Load More Replies...I used to have a lizard that looked like him, it was a western whip tail lizard. It wasn't domestic when I found him. But he was just as
Omg I love him! We have a bearded dragon (he’s about 18 months old) and he’s our family baby too. Reptiles can be loving, wonderful pets! Thanks for sharing!!
What is your pet? I can not find the exact information of the lizard in the picture
When he was asking for more cuddles - I didn't know lizards could be like that :) Wonderful!
I've always known that lizards are adorable&make wonderful pet friends. I have had many throughout my life. Lizards are my favorite animal. Everyone else can keep their noisy, stinky, ugly dogs,I'll take cute, adorable lizards like Manuel over them, any day. (:
I am getting a Savannah Monitor. This Has made me want one even more!!!
Being a reptile pet owner, I can relate to this. We have had many bearded dragons :)
As a savannah monitor owner and someone who has worked closely with savannah monitor in scientific research in disappoined in this article and the owner. There is a lot here of body language that is being misinterpreted as cute when in actually that monitor lizards is stressed out! When a savannah monitor wags it's tail it's not because it's happy that's a fear response the monitor is using its tail trying to draw attention away from its head and back because it's stressed! The cuddling is because the monitor is cold not because it wants to cuddle. Also the artical does not list the actual enclosure requirements savannah monitors require at a minimum an 8ftx4ftx4ft enclosure and even lists this on the website savannahlemur lists on their blog about the lizard, but she is not providing this for her monitor she's keeping it in large glass fish tank that is not big enough for the monitor and does not meet the humidity requirements that this lizard needs.
Monitor lizard??? Yikes. How big is he going to get? Then what??? Is this an imported animal or one not native to this country. They too
