Particularly tough on me in Michigan. As I write this, I've seen the sun twice in the last 2 weeks.

We threatened to never darken our daughter/SIL's door again. Visiting them in NC(from Mich) one year the lower AC/air handler went out..$8k bill. The next year, the upper units went out, another $8k. She was concerned we would pass away from heat exhaustion and urged us to sleep downstairs. We just smiled, as on the hottest most humid Michigan nights we just turn the celling fans on stun and open the windows. Good air flow on the 2nd floor anyway.

Worked for them. The township they use to draw water from sued them for: Demanding they be assessed as an Ag entity regarding property taxes. They bought up most of the land between the spring site and pumping station(they truck the water 35 miles), stripped the land of improved value(houses, barns, garages) thereby reducing taxable value, THEN had the cojones to claim an Ag designation. Thankfully the judge didn't play. LOTS of companies out there that bottle spring water so, no loss.

Midland Mall, Midland Mich...bucking the trend. 2 generators, Target and Dunhams, LOTS of indie shops including one I'll drive 60 miles for is a Mideastern guy that sells phone cases and screen protectors. Got one of each for my Moto Edge for $40 total. Expensive? Yeah, but never have to worry about it again. Puts on the protector in about 20 seconds, no bubbles...ever. The Mall also has a 20' tall playspace that absolutely HUGE and takes up the entire center court!
