It's emotional abuse when baby animals are taken from their mothers. Torture for both parties, just as it would be if someone took a baby from its mother without needing to.

They are kept in cages so their muscles stay tender and weak. That’s how you get veal. Also the being held against your will and being forcibly separated from your family.

When they are really young their ears are hole punched and their tails are cut off, often without any painkillers. Then they're kept in huge buildings with thousands of other lambs, and if they're born in the fall chances are they'll never feel anything but cement below their cloves. It's often really dirty and millions of lambs die every year because they're so weak and sick and they're friends will be left with their dead bodies. When they're about 6 months they'll be sent of to slaughter, in stressful transports sometimes even crossing the ocean, and there they'll be hung up in their legs and have their throats slit, many still awake because they either haven't even been stunned, or because they woke up before.

Ripped away from their mothers. Thrown onto trucks with other lambs with poop and stuff in a truck to the slaughter house. Also they don’t pick them up gently either. Thrown by legs, necks ect. Literally tossed into a truck too.

In my country and i assume we are not alone in this, every easter if you go in "farmer's market" you see hundreds of farmers selling lambs. Some are already dead and cut, some are alive but with their legs tied up, and crying. And if you buy the lamb, they will sacrifice it. I think that is torture for the animal. Also, taking a lamb or any other baby animal from its mother is torture for both the baby and the mother. The time between taking the baby from the mother and the animal being sacrificed is horrible for the animal... They are transported in huge trucks with barely no space and they are scared and cry and then are sacrificed... i think this is all torture for the poor animals...

We would at least be better than we are now. The animals we keep for meet eat many times more plants than we do. I'm just making up numbers now, but this is the principle: a cow eats 100kg food before it's slaughtered. That meat only feeds 10 people. Then 10kg of crops that could've fed many people now only feeds one. So you see if everyone went vegan there would also be more food, and therefore less starvation. Also being vegan is not about being perfect, it's about being as good as we can.

If any animal is going to be tortured, it's probably happening in more developed countries. So yes it does happen in America, sadly. I once watched a speech about how the milk industry tortures cows to get milk. Despite what most think cows only produce milk when they have a calf. So the industry forces the animals to breed, then take the calf away from the mother and takes her milk to sell. Where do the calves go exactly? Small boxes/cages with no windows where the have almost no room to move so that the calves won't have muscles. At night the calves call for their mother but don't get a reply. What's even more sickening? They feed the calves the WRONG food when in reality they need their mothers milk. Back to the muscles, they do this so when they take the calves to the slaughterhouse they can turn the calf which is a BABY into veal. This is why I don't eat beef.

Also, even if you believe animals are here for our nourishment, which I disagree with but I'm not going to argue it, nowhere is there an argument that backs treating animals like s**t up until the point of death.

Some species have to eat meat. We're not one of those species. We're also not at the top of the food chain. I'm not coming at this as some holier than thou vegan, I'm just asking you to think about it from a different perspective.
