Typing “#” should generate a correct response. It could also be a number symbol, pound sign, etc. So not a vision test, but a “guess what the heck I drew in a bunch of colored dots.” Right.

These really need to be multiple choice. Not all English speakers use the same words. Where I live, we don't call palms 'trees'. We just call them 'palms'. Simply, because they're not actually trees, and everyone knows it.
