Edinburgh born photographer, Jimmy Reid grew up around fish as his father was a keen fishkeeper. It wasn’t until he had grown up and found his love for photography that he considered them as a subject. One day he came across a photo of a siamese fighting fish and was blown away by the detail captured by the photographer.
He knew after a quick internet search that there was already a lot of siamese fighting fish photos online and for his work to stand out he would need to do something different. It wasn’t until he was feeding his own fish bloodworm that he had a light bulb moment. Siamese fighting fish can get very excited at feeding time and often jump out of the water to get the bloodworm, this is natural behaviour. He then set out to capture this moment and finally did after ALOT of patience and clicks.
Jimmy doesn’t just capture siamese fighting fish, his love for showing people their beauty spread to all tropical fish as you can see below. Often editing his shots to have a more artistic feel and make them jump out from the image, but also capturing them in a more natural looking setting.

I dig this, I love aquatic life. Was hoping to see Betta Bellica. They are not exactly pretty, but I find them spectacular.
