The drops of sweat evaporate instantly as they hit the police car’s hood, but with your cheek pressed against the metal, ears ringing and wrists sore from too-tight handcuffs, it’s the crunching of glass underfoot that you remember during sentencing. If only someone would give you a glass of water. A radio squawks something about backup. You just wanted to help. And now this.
Are you a Florida resident? If the above story sounds familiar, then you can finally breathe easy. Effective as of August, thanks to the “Unattended Persons and Animals in Motor Vehicles” House Bill 131, you will now be able to free unattended persons or animals from a locked car.
Here’s what you need to know. Be sure to:
-first check that the vehicle is locked;
-call 911 or law enforcement before entering the vehicle or immediately after doing so;
-use no more force than is necessary to break in;
-and remain with the person or animal until first-responders arrive.
Get ready to get cracking!

See what it feels like to be inside a hot car:

Share on FacebookYou should check, though, that the dog inside is actually uncomfortable and in need of rescuing. Some cars do have airconditioning, even while standing.
If it's hot enough, and the A/C is going while the car is idling, the engine can overheat and actually vent heat back into the cab. Leaving a dog in the car with the A/C running isn't a guarantee, especially if they can knock or hit the controls.
Load More Replies...Don't care whether it's legal or not. I will smash a window to rescue a dog and the I will wait for the cops to charge you.
It starts with "just a moment," for example, "need to buy something here. Be right back" And then you get distracted by something or someone else and that "moment" turns into eternity.
Load More Replies...I'm especially saddened by the canine officers that perish every year because their partners "forgot about them." Dying of heat...
Pets AND people. Why does the title only focus on pets. I guess it only grabs attention if it's a dog. I'm ecstatic that you can possibly save a baby this way too.
How idiot can someone be if they think it's completely normal to leave their dog/kid locked in car, outside, no vent, in hot day?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! PUT THIS VIDEO ON TV ADDS AND SHOW EVERYBODY THIS!!!
When I go into a store, as soon as I leave my car, I remote start it with the AC on, and believe me, my dog is fine. Then, if I find it takes more time than a half hour, I'll remote start the car again. (It works up to 1000 feet). SO......if some nosey busybody takes it upon herself to "rescue" my Dog by breaking a window, yes....stick around so I can give you a bill for your damage. Before you complain....Yes, I understand that there will be cases of Dog abuse, but if you could, try to learn how to recognize that the dog is hurting before you act wrongly.
The video is strange. Where did all that water go at the end? It would've been nicer with a timer
