“My Boyfriend Brought His Entire Gaming System To The Hospital During My 21-Hour-Long Induction”
When you have 21 hours to kill, you might as well bring something to pass the time.
TikToker Amber Scxtt’s boyfriend took this notion to the next level by taking his entire gaming system with him.
But what has the internet divided is the fact that those 21 hours he needed to fill were waiting for his girlfriend to deliver their son.
After Amber shared a video of him playing video games from her hospital bed, many jumped to the comments, saying this was a mistake.

Every woman’s labor is unique and sometimes it can be over in a matter of hours. But in other cases, it really tests a mother’s physical and emotional stamina.
Labor has three stages, but the active phase of the first stage is what many think of when they imagine the process, as it is when contractions become strong and frequent. This phase can last 4 to 8 hours. In total, all of the stages of labor—from when the baby ‘drops’ (lightening) to delivery of the placenta—can take 12 to 24 hours for first births and about 8 to 10 hours for subsequent ones.
But again, these ranges do not match up with everyone. While it’s normal to wonder what the average labor time is for most women, especially for someone whose due date approaches, it’s important to remember that labor time is often very unpredictable.
But some people in the comments were not OK with the guy’s behavior

Since a woman in labor is not always in the best condition to make decisions or assertive requests, her partner needs to be ready to step in if the situation calls for it.
They may need to help her logically weigh her options about certain medical decisions; or ask that her healthcare practitioner be woken from a nap, that an anesthesiologist be paged, or that a mirror be brought in so that she can take a peek at what’s happening.
Yes, the doctor or midwife and the nurses are all there to make sure the mother and baby are doing well but the partner still has a big role when it comes to getting the woman as comfortable as possible and in communicating her wishes.
It’s nice to know that Amber’s boyfriend gave her everything she needed. And that’s what counts the most. Who cares if he also found the time for a quick game or two? The mom’s happy and the baby is fine.
And some folks were perfectly fine with it
“Never date or marry a marry a guy who plays video games. They are boys, not men”. Whoever wrote that doesn’t need to worry about whether or not their spouse plays video games- with a personality like that, who’d marry them?
Logic and reason, no no no! My husband plays video games and has the ability to not only play video games. But be a great husband and dad as well. This bullcrap about men are not men if they do things they enjoy, like play video games is ridiculous and wrong. Plenty of men and people know how to balance things in their lives and you saying men are somehow less than or boys because of video games is absurd. Are there some people who take it too far and make their whole lives about video games? Sure, but it's not every man or person.
Load More Replies...I mean, 21 hours, he needed something to do when not helping her, as he isnt needed the whole time, and she got entertained at the same time. What is wrong with this
There's nothing wrong with this. That's literally what video games are for. To pass the time and entertain you until baby comes. People are acting as if he played it the entire time. Which is not the case and people really need to start processing information thoroughly, before reacting.
Load More Replies...Ugh. One of the worst things about social media is everyone thinking they have a say. Irony I know. But wtf. Everyone's always jumping to judge somebody she did not ask for your input. People are literally out here drooling to see relationships crash and burn rather than rooting for them.
If I didn’t want strangers giving me input on how I live my life, I wouldn’t post my personal life on a platform that allows comments.
Load More Replies...Parents using their kids as props to become internet famous is disgraceful. One day that boy will come across that video and these posts and see how insignificant his birth was to his parents.
It seems like the last post in the article was aimed directly at you.
Load More Replies...This seems like it could be very out of context, and the commenter that said that the dad can't be a good parent because he enjoys video games is an idiot. That said, I always bring a couple of good books when my wife's in labor. It looks much better.
I literally play games with my dad all the time and he's the manliest dude ever istg
My parents have gamed for a little over 20 years together, when I was born my mom would sit there and play Doom on her PC with me on her chest. When I would be taking a nap, my parents would play Duke nukem together. My parents literally are the ones who got me into gaming, and they've been amazing parents. Gaming isn't bad, it's if you let it consume your life. That's bad. My parents still game today, we even play games together. If your and your partner can enjoy gaming together, go for it! It might just bring you two closer, just like it did for my parents.
I'm a huge gamer. I would have killed for my rig while waiting to be ready for "showtime"! Both my labors took multiple days! Dads were zero help. One fainted and I made him leave! Sheesh. The judgement.
Not totally different from us staring at our phones in the meantime. Just very out of the ordinary.
I like how the OP was mad that people had negative reactions even though her initial post was negative.... lol. She's mad that SHE posted publicly and got the exact energy she exerted.... I get the whole "I can say it but you can't" thing... but babe, you put it on social media. You can't control how people receive it or how they choose to engage with it. If you don't want people to talk s**t. Stay off the internet. And if you don't want unsolicited advice about your partner/relationship... don't ask for it by posting photos/videos of him literally acting like a damn child while you're giving birth. Any man who would do this is seriously a POS... your partner is giving birth to YOUR CHILD! She has to sit there in pain for 21+ hours.. and nothing in your life changes? Not even sitting on your ass and doing nothing? I don't think so. That's ridiculous. I could never be with someone who would do that. But that's just me...also, "he needed something to do!" Is just insane. What about her?
21 hours??? Cut him some slack. My wife was in labor all night long... and I stayed up nervously watching the 02 & pulse. (I had my reasons.) I literally didn't sleep a minute for days, so she could get the restful recovery she needed. But I don't begrudge him the ability to play some video games ONE BIT.
If i ever get pregnant and go through labor im bringing my xbox setup, Nintendo switch and my roku. All the women saying hes a man child for playing video games sound like theyre probably BORING AS F**K WOMEN. More couples should game together. Hes my sword and im his shieldmaiden. Hes the bullet cushion while i plug em between the eyes. The couple that slays together stays together.
I didn't bring a gaming system to my daughter's birth, but we didn't really get to plan for the emergency induction 3 weeks early. Nor did we get much time to plan for the emergency D&C a few days later. I *wish* I had at least brought my 3DS for both. I didn't even have a book during the D&C. Guess who stayed up all night to feed the baby every 2 hours (breastfeeding was a bust for several reasons) while mom and the normal schedule visitors/helpers slept? Yeah, me. Wanna guess what I did with all that downtime?
I love how the comments turned the tide from judgey to supportive after she defended him. Sheeple. Don't judge. Just don't. Ever. You don't KNOW anything about the situation or the other person. You are just making assumptions about them based what you saw/heard and your own life experiences, which are unique for everyone. Everybody is different and we all have our own coping mechanisms.
Seems to be a popular opinion nowadays. Wait you have a gaming system?!? Yeah... were so not having another date!! Disgusting man. I even once dated a woman who was an avid gamer herself however when she found out I was a gamer as well she was absolutely disgusted with me called me misogynistic and a pig and looked like she wanted to slap me. I got a good rant about how I was 27 years old and not a child and gaming is for children as far as men are concerned but she needed games to unwind o.O Even my parents are of the opinion that after 18 all gaming systems should be sold and left in the past. I don't think theres anything wrong with a bit of gaming. I babysit my nephew occasionally staying at my sister's house during my vacation time or when my boss just doesn't have any available work. I've been completely cut off from gaming systems while babysitting him for up to 3 months at a time since they both work 14 hour days to ensure they'll be able to keep living in the city.
The thing is this. It's not wrong that he played video games and it's not wrong to play video games in general as some people say in the comments. Some people seriously need to shut up. Now, I didn't see the video itself but from what I see in this article is that he only plays video games and is not helping. The article has been laid out to make you think that all he did was playing video games while she was being induced and also once the baby was there. And started to show that he actually helps only after she got enough attention from the initial video so...I kinda understand why people felt the need to comment that way. She is in the wrong for showing only one side of the story and then the complete story.
I'm not surprised shes marrying an obvious child, she looks about 12 herself. And it's not like he brought a switch or a handheld gaming console, he went to the trouble of bringing a whole TV, a console, a controller and a headset! That is what is trashy af.
My husband and I both play video games, I played on our Nintendo switch during my induction and he played Xbox on his phone through remote play. It's dumb people are mad 🤣🙄
Right! y’all are going to sit there and stare into each other’s eyes for 21 hours! I was having complications with my son while a baseball game was on and husbands dad and brothers were alll in the room watching! My mom kicked them out and still brings it up a few times a month! This was almost 12 years ago 😂
At the end of the day, this is their business. If she's fine with this, they why is no one else fine. She was putting a funny story out there. The guy was there the whole time. She's cool, everyone else should be.
Bunch of judgmental pricks. Clearly the mom had no problem with it and nowhere did she say he was being inattentive. Y'all just wanna judge this man. Me and my girl both play video games and have 2 boys and I guarantee I could have brought a gaming system there with no problem. You don't know the interworkings of their relationship just because that doesn't work for you doesn't mean it's a problem for them. Worry about your own relationship instead of trying to tell a stranger you know nothing about what's a red flag and what isn't
Well, his other gaming system was temporarily out of order. What's a guy to do?
I think he has no respect for his partner who is in pain. Even if you can't help, the most important thing is just being next to her and being supportive. Even if it's takes a lot of time, people don't have enough patience anymore.
My labor took 35 hours, even I was bored and in need of distraction. We watched tv, played videogames, etc. I also sent him to bed when the first 24 hours were up, because I knew I would need him afterwards so that I could rest then.
