Baristas can be true lifesavers—they make that delicious, sweet coffee that gets us through the day, they supply the masses with tasty shakes on a hot summer day, and basically provide a much-needed service that all of us have used at least once. But not all is good in barista land. For one, they belong to customer service, which comes with its own challenges that have long been documented. Another difficulty for baristas can be... their job as a whole.

A Twitter user who goes by human plushie (@INTERNETM1LF) started a viral thread where people posted the kind of ridiculous orders they've received from customers (and each one needs to be fulfilled—that's the service, after all). There's a whole plethora out there, and here are some of the more notable ones.

More info: twitter.com

The orders can range from absolutely bland, something akin to water with little to no flavor, to an essay length of requirements that the barista will have to figure out. And let's not forget, because the customer is always right, these drinks become a true challenge of willpower. Some even asked for a bee in a cup... Why? No one knows, but it's there.

"Oh, and make it with almond milk." I think that tickles me so much because the addition of whip would indicate that the choice of almond milk isn't related to lactose intolerance, so it's like they think they're making the "healthy choice" in a drink that's 83% sugar! LOL!

And that children is how a Karen turns into a Kennedi, just 18 special ingredients to make the magic happen. Honestly Id just dunk a churro in a coffee pot and tell em to have fun with it.

I bet if any ingredient missed, it would make a huge difference to those people. Unnoticeable.

When I go to Starbucks, which is only a few times a year, I always feel so guilty getting whip cream...

I've never understood orders like this. Like, can you even taste the individual flavours at this point?!

Excuse me but all these are the shame of coffees... don't think yourselves as coffee lovers if you drink these things...there is no way you can taste actual coffee this way! Better order a chocolate cake

By the way, I'm from Spain so I honestly don't know what all that means... I drink black coffee, maybe with a little bit of milk and that's it

It will be short when eating that kind of nonsense. I used to think "Life's too short for white wine" but you are right there's much more to exclude.

That’s like the people who order a triple cheese burger and chili cheese fry with a Diet Coke as if that’ll make a difference 😂

And these orders aren't generated at a single central point—you can find them in all the cafes and shops that offer drinks. The majority do come from Starbucks, but there's a Dunkin' Donuts in the list too. Basically, no barista is safe from the scourge of silly orders, for which we can only offer our sympathies.

We all probably have our favorite drinks, but these orders take it to the next level. And seeing how some of them are very excessive or just downright mocking, it's safe to say that customers sometimes go overboard. This also gives a glimpse into why so many baristas look overworked (or forget your name... they have mile-long orders to remember!)
