Bartender Savagely Kicks A Polite Nazi Customer Out Of His Bar And Explains Why It’s Important To Do So

Tolerance is a virtue that’s mostly perceived as a crucially important brick in order to build a healthy and peaceful society. In a way, tolerance has turned into a mark that embodies the historical progress humanity has made over the years. But here’s a question—is tolerance supposed to have limits?

In 1945, a philosopher named Karl Popper introduced a concept that he called the paradox of tolerance. “Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance,” he wrote. “If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.” In other words, if society is tolerant without any limits, the intolerant people will eventually destroy it. “We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant,” Karl Popper wrote.

Today’s story is closely related to this concept. A Twitter user named @IamRageSparkle recently shared a story about his encounter with a bartender who noticed a customer wearing nazi symbols on his clothes and kicked him out of the bar. This story once again shows us how important it is to try to see people’s true intentions and never tolerate the act of being cruel and those who choose to support awful things.

Here’s the Twitter thread where @IamRageSparkle briefly told the story

For reference, some of the main ones include: 88 (the number represents a letter of the alphabet by order, so HH), SS made to look similar to lightning bolts, a version of the Celtic cross with the lower portion made the same length as the other 'arms', a symbol that looks like a Z with a line through the slanted portion, The Death's Head skull, the Imperial Eagle... I highly suggest that people do learn the symbols so they can recognize Nazis and Nazi sympathizers. Zero tolerance.

I used to be a bouncer at a bar and I had a group of nazis attempt to come in. It was a slow week night and I was by myself. They outnumbered me by a lot and I was scared, but I held my ground and refused to let them in. I knew the same thing, if they came in once and got a foot-hold, they would be emboldened to come back again and again. F**k nazi scum.

My son works in an 'Irish Pub' (in Germany) ... and has kicked out an "influencer couple". They were dressed in fancy clothes and wore expensive jewelry ... there was nothing wrong with that, but they just looked totally out of place. They came from the USA ... and were convinced no one understood them (with an Irish puppy). After taking photos, they made fun of how "shabby" and "old fashioned" the pub was decorated. My son had heard enough at some point and politely but emphatically asked her (in fluent English) to leave the "oh so shabby and old-fashioned pub". They got angry and threatened loudly to make bad reviews on Instagram ... which made everyone in the pub ... 2 employees and about 30 guests ... laugh out loud. As if they were dependent on such guests when the pub was half full ... at 7 pm.

so, sounds like in this case, with overt paraphernalia and medals this guy was a wannabe Nazi. good on the bartender. HOWEVER, in a day and age when people are called Nazi's on a regular basis for no reason besides opposing political views, he better have been seeing swastikas. I have never met a conservative that was pro nazi, yet its shouted 24/7. Everyone i now unanimously thinks the nazis were an evil ideology. hopefully this man observed the former and wasn't practicing the latter...

Most people have no idea what Nazi ideologies were. Conservatives aren't Nazis, but they do promote many of the same policies. So, while calling them Nazis isn't accurate, they're asking for it.

I think that almost everyone can agree that Nazi ideology looking back was a horrible thing. but take a look thru the lens of post treaty of versicles. Germany was plundered the poor felt there was no way for them to prosper under the harsh tariffs and demands forced by the oppressors. so radical agendas pushed by mad men jousting for power. gave the poor hope, they up listened to speakers like Hitler, He promised a car in every garage and a chicken in every pot. The german people bought in and turn a blind eye to what was happening they followed the propaganda of the day and the world suffered!!! See any similarities to the world today Left or right black or white police or criminal we use sound bites thru the media to prove our point not open our mind. The only out of this that I can see is the reestablishment of the nuclear family. raising the next generation with solid moral values and a strong work ethic. Squash the entitlement mentality and embrace equility and punish stupidity

It goes back to WWII when the U.S. was working on the Atom Bomb (Manhattan Project) and they needed some of Nazi Germany's brilliant nuclear scientists to help. I doubt these scientists were involved in war atrocities but they should have been in POW camps.

This isn't about protecting society from intolerant people. This is about protecting a business's reputation in a society of irrationally intolerant virtue signallers - today's bigots. Besides, people only ever look at half the picture when laying the boot into their favourite whipping boy. Most choose to ignore who Germany was up against - Stalin, who killed way more people and was way more dangerous - and his cohorts. As well as the financial elite: these same people ignore that Germany had something in common with Libya, Syria, and most of war-torn North Africa: seeking a national gold standard and off the US standard. People choose to ignore the ruin the world put them in. They choose to ignore the slaughters of German people's that Germany responded to. They choose to forget the war crimes committed against Germany by the Allies and others. Because acknowledging these facts is less flattering. People are vain and insecure creatures seeking shelter from reality. Most seek ignorance

Those Nazis seem to find a new scapegoat for their hateful ideology in every generation. It's like they think everyone forgot about the horrors they did to Jewish or gay people or anyone else not agreeing with them and it's shocking how they're gaining popularity. Now they're still targeting Jews, and islamophobia, sexism and racism form a complete program for their evil fans... They don't hide it and spreading vileness is just part of the campaign now for extreme right parties. Where a few years ago their propaganda would be deemed unethical by the vast majority, now it's glazed over by young, "good-looking" men who can do a smooth talk... That bartender is awesome for seeing through their veneer of politeness and for giving a clear message that hate has no place in his bar. We need more people like bartender and this customer. I dream of a time when being good will be enough, whether I'm black, queer, pray to Allah or Jahwe or no-one! A time in which our descendants will be happy!

The bartender was protecting his business or the business of his employer. He nipped it right in the bud before an element that might destroy their business with their patronage became associated with the business. He offered no personal opinion of whether he liked, hated or was indifferent to Nazis. He didn't want them to ruin their bar. Practical. It also showed that zero tolerance of Nazis is good business.

Anyone can be a paying customer and anyone can deny service. Service is an agreement like any other and has to be mutual. You cannot take someone's money if you have denied them, just like you cannot not pay if you have received said service, but you can both choose not to be part of the agreement without any reason given. I wish people would get that freedom is not just yours and comes with a lot of responsibility.

And now swap "nazi" to "gay" in this story and suddenly it's not acceptable. Paradox of tolerance just sounds like... well, intolerance wouldn't flourish in a tolerant society unless the tolerance of that society was artificial. Why would a tolerant person suddenly turn intolerant? It only makes sense if intolerance was still present in people, just hidden due to it not being widely accepted.

Because being gay isn't a choice. Being Nazi is. Being gay doesn't involve an ideology of hurting and scaring particular groups of people. Being nazi does. The only thing I'm truly intolerant over is intolerance, even if that's a tautology ^-^

Nazis are extremely, extremely rare. There are almost none of them left at all. People being LABELED nazis tho, that's another thing. (Nazis were incredibly evil, so good thing we have ruined the word, huh? Nazi now means 'someone I don't agree with 100%') Hell, you could call that bartender a nazi for refusing service to someone based on their beliefs. Better yes, based on what the bartender THINKS are their beliefs.

He better have had swastikas on him. I'm sick of hearing ignorant morons saying the Iron cross is a Nazi symbol. It is not, It predates the Nazis and had nothing to do with them. People are increasingly thinking this because modern video games and TV censor the swastika in historical contexts and replace it with an iron cross.

Neither is the swastika. It was originally a religious symbol, and was a part of the logo of the Finnish Air Force prior to the Nazis rise to power or their perpetuation of the symbol. It was adopted by the Nazis as a symbol of their regime. The Iron Cross, whilst not Nazi in origin, symbolizes Nazism due to the regime taking and using it.

I am tolerant with divergent views that can be intelligently expressed. But to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson The Rational and the Ridiculous cannot be Reconciled the only Real Recourse is Ridicule. I would not have a rational debate with a Nazi.

Is it savage to throw a Nazi out of a bar? And someone should tell "Sanimo" that extremists/terrorists can exist in all societies, but you may not even know until it's too late.

That's not the point. You imply that it would also be okay to deny service to someone because they are homosexual, for instance.

What’s bizarre is that you continually take that out of context. Both sides meant peaceful protestors and those who werent nazis but supported the statues staying in Charlottesville.

The only thing I'm truly intolerant over is intolerance, even if that's a tautology ^-^

change 'nazi' to 'black' or 'asian'..."their goal is to be terrible awful people" ...some grunt behind a bar thinking being a bar tender gives him a right to threaten someone with a bat is a terrible awful person. i know places like this and people like this well. awful people, awful shitholes. at least the man got to leave a s**t hole bar and not have to endure the fascist attitudes that go on there.

Yea, but there is actually a reasonable number of Neo-Nazi's in the U.S. It is legal to be one as long as your actions are not illegal. (Trust me, I don't like it, but that is how it is)

The Iron Cross, Eiseners Kreutz, is not nazi. It was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia on 17 March 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars...

If only we wouldn't stop at Nazis and also kick the antifa and the BLM segregationists out as well. If some people don't wake up soon, we're going to be enforcing segregation " for the protection of black and brown bodies." Soon.

I've traveled all over the U.S. and lived in different states. I've never seen a group of "Nazis" or white supremicists or kkk. I've heard about a place in Alabama where kkk is supposed to be but I've never seen a group. One time I saw two guys near a crowd of people carrying a flag that I didn't know at the time what it was. But it turned out it was an Antifa flag.
