Just a quick heads up, looks like BP deployed some code in the last ~48 hrs (I noticed yesterday morning… MST zone), that isn’t working as intended. Signs are: the post is/may be (auto)downvoted to -1, hidden, and Reply is disabled. Upvotes work but the comment remains hidden and Reply disabled. There’s no content in these comments that resemble links. I’ve already reported it; perhaps others could do so as well, so the issue gets resolved. Cheers! ETA this is on the website, don’t know about the app. It affects premium users as well, I just don’t remember who.

Decided to search for “what height is the world designed for?” The AI results start with “Standard Western Design: Most everyday items (kitchen counters, car seats, clothing) are built for people between 5'2" (157cm) and 6'2" (188cm), as this covers a large portion of the population, with specific points like door handles often set for taller individuals (around 6 ft/183cm) for convenience.” Simple logic says that’s utter bōllox. The world is actually built for people averaging around 5’9”, which is deemed not too uncomfortable for the min to max ends of the range. Totally relate to where you are coming from, I’m 5’1”. But I think my good friend has it worse: he’s 6’8” in bare feet.

If someone taking certain antidepressants suddenly stops taking them then can experience brain 'zaps' which feels like an electric shock in the brain, caused by the sudden decrease in seratonin. It is unusual that op only had them happen while taking the antidepressants. I'm on venlafaxine and I experience them if I miss only one dose. They aren't fatal, but it's important to not just stop taking antidepressants or miss doses.

I can typically taste which herbs and spices are in a food, but I had to cultivate that ability. Also, a lot of thyme (or any herb with a lot of thymol) tends to throw off my ability to taste other elements.

Kudos to the OP and her aunt who figured out a way to escape such an unfair situation. It always boggles my mind how in today's world women are still expected to take full care of the household and family without help from all family members. I honestly thought that I’d done ok on the “housetrained” aspect because my ex was a veteran; very vocal about how much training had gone into personal care, pristine barracks, laundry - including ironing. Put simply, he, “can’t bear to live messy because it’s been trained out.” The first 5 words never changed, but somehow over the years the second 5 became “you need to do better”.

Teen Gets Ignored By Mom For Years, Finally Learns Why She's So Mad

I think this 19yr old is showing a great deal more maturity and insight than the majority of commenters. Most don’t seem to notice that saying her mom and dad are shıtty parents because one abandoned her and the other is a cheating scůmbag, isn’t helpful and doesn’t make her feel better. It’s a black and white POV that has little/no nuance. Her reality is she’s finally understanding from a young adult perspective what her mom was going through, how her own choices affected their relationship. It’s pathetic that in one scenario we will yell at anyone who says someone with deep depression should suck it up and push through. “It’s not that easy!” But if it’s a parent struggling with depression and getting drunk, suddenly they aren’t deserving of any grace because parents aren’t allowed to be human. Recognizing that her choices had an impact doesn’t mean OP should feel to blame. I’m mad as hēll at her therapist who should be helping OP see that comprehending cause and effect ≠ culpability.

I wasn't diagnosed with autism until I was 69. I do have other mental health issues. But I was a kid in the 50s/60s. Autism wasn't as well known, and it was even thought that only males got it! I managed to get through college and grad school, worked, did all sorts of stuff. But there are and always have been things that are very hard for me. The more I learned about autism the more it seemed to fit me, so I talked to my psychiatrist and she said yes, I am on the spectrum. I would never just say I have autism, I hate self-diagnosing. But it is an explanation, not an excuse. There's a difference.
