These 60 Celebrity Dolls Were Repainted By A Mexican Artist To Look Real
Doll collectors know better than anyone: finding a model of characters or famous people that are authentic and realistic is very complicated. But for the Mexican artist Gil Plazola, the subject is on another level! Gil uses prefabricated dolls in their primary form, without anything special, until they are transformed into iconic actors and singers. "Since my childhood I like barbies, and the inspiration for making my doll repaints is Hollywood actresses," said the artist to Bored Panda.
With contouring techniques, including shading and highlighting to add depth to the realistic dolls' features, Gil developed his own method to bring out great movie characters and Hollywood stars. In addition to redoing the painting, the artist also modifies the hair of these newly repainted dolls and puts on clothes identical to the originals of the artists. The similarity of these life-like dolls with their counterparts and the details are amazing, there is no doubt that it is a work of art.

Looks exactly like her! I have been following this talented artist for years. A treat every time I lay eyes on his Masterpieces!
The original looks nothing like Angelina at all, but wow does the repaint work wonders on that doll, awesome work.
Awesome talent, what wonderful artists that recreate the actors and clothing to perfection.
Idk what's up with the question mark. I didn't put any punctuation and the app added it itself...
Load More Replies...Can’t believe the second image is a doll, such great talent.
Even though this artist does a beautiful job of creating more life like dolls, the eyes are not quite right
Load More Replies...Seriously, how could the original creator think thst their work looks like Lucille Ball, wow not even close. The repaint is beautiful work. I would love to see dolls done by this artist of Ricky, Ethel and Fred.
If I'm correct, the left side columns are his work and the right sides are the comparison.
Sry I wrong about the left column, it is before and after.
Load More Replies...Wow! This is amazing work, if I didnt know better I would think he photo shopped a mans head to be tiny. I do realistic portraits, and they often take 150 hours plus. I cant even imagine attempting that kind of detail on something so tiny, Incredible talent!
I'm with you on this. There's definitely some photoshopping involved. Awesome talent, but with some digital help, for sure.
Load More Replies...Omg ❣️ I want that doll to be my husband, so handsome 😍 beautiful work.
*insert lazy joke about you looking more realistic than real thing here*
No matter how hard I try... i can't find anything to paste here.
Load More Replies...Hmm, not loving eithet one as much as the others, but still the original just sucks, the repaint is really good though.
This looks like you snuck in her room and cast a mould of her face, so wickedly fabulous.
Oh man talk about a mini me character lolGlenn Close has a mini her in yhis doll. Looks awesome.
Has she had vitiligo her whole life, or did she develop it? Is that why the original doesn’t have vitiligo, or is it not actually her? I think vitiligo is beautiful. You can develop vitiligo, right? Someone at my school has a mild form it. Not very noticeable. She got when she burst a blood vessel in her arm.
You develop it over time. The original isn't her the artist also creates celebrities.
Load More Replies...Strange to create a Doll of Winnie Harlow, without the Vitiligo...
I don't know when it was originally created, but toy companies didn't really start making any dolls that world might consider as being flawed in any way until pretty recently. I mean look how many years it took Mattel to make a foll with curves. And honestly why can't Mattel give their dolls different names, they have a mess load of Barbies that are FINALLY looking different, give them their own names and character identities.
Load More Replies...His job in this case failed due to the lack of the vitiligo. Idk if he thought it was a flaw with the doll, but he left out what made the likeness her.
Was confused about which did or if it was a before and after. I apparently can't delete it, so sorry folks. Definitely wouldn't mean to offend someone when I'm wrong.
Load More Replies...I wonder if the artist makes the clothes too, because I've never seen barbie clothes like that and they're pretty awesome!
How much would you charge to customize a Barbie head to look like someone. Would love to have one done of my sister.
I actually think the first one looks more like her. The lips are totally wrong on the second one.
I just finished watching the x files, Gillian Anderson had freckles and she didn't appear to wear a lot of makeup on the show, but I really like the work that the artist has done.
Beautiful job.If I'm correct, the left side columns are his work and the right sides are the comparison.
Sry I wrong about the left column, it is before and after.
Load More Replies...No idea why the first dolls eyes are brown when everyone knows her eyes are green
i think its because her eyes arnt actually green thier hazel and most hazel eyes are percived as brown
Load More Replies...If I'm correct, the left side columns are his work and the right sides are the comparison.
Sry I wrong about the left column, it is before and after.
Load More Replies...Lol, I used to have that doll, it was originally Wonder Woman when she was an Amazon
The original one with those weird eyes looks like a ventriloquists dummy lol
Load More Replies...Well, it does say "inspiration," so maybe it wasn't so much "this will look just like Marilyn" than "I want this to give off Marilyn vibes"
Load More Replies...Hey Foxxy, Liking the username and profile pic.
Load More Replies...I mean, she's a difficult person to capture because so much of her persona is around her body movement and expressions. Her Madam Tussaud was figure had the same issue.
Barbie has a smaller nose than Britney. Look at the "after" photo but cover the nose.
Load More Replies...Wow. The lips on the first one tho. And I love how you have marker on your finger lol. (How are those earrings staying on???????)
Okay, but why is the neck in the second one just... like that?
omg if you didnt tell me it was a doll on some of these i wouldnt even know
Whilst the rework is excellent quality wise it's the first one that actually looks like Oprah. And Louise Durand is right, the original doll is Oprah from A Wrinkle In Time.
Oprah would surely not wear those gold dots on her brow bones instead of brows, and with blue eyeshadow, and blonde hair, nope.
Wrong on this one as well. He did improve it.
Load More Replies...What? She doesn't look like Hamasaki Ayumi at all! There must be a mistake in the caption.
I've never seen the person it's supposed to be, but I will say the doll is gorgeous.
*doesn't know who this is so don't blame me* why is there green in her hair in the first one? And wow
I think with a lot of these, especially the commissioned ones (those being the dolls people have asked this artist to personally make for them), he just starts with any old doll he has. Then, he shows the before/after some can see the transformation
Load More Replies...The person might have recieved bad lip injections. 🤷🏼♀️
Load More Replies...Wait... it says "All Red Everything" but there's nothing red on her...
The eyes on the first one... and then the last one.... holly [insert some kind of word here]
This simply cannot be Grace Kelly. I'm sure it's a Hillary Clinton doll now.
I don't think either of these faces capture the beauty of Grace Kelly. I guessed that the face on the right was Hillary Clinton. Looks much more like her.
Neither of these dolls capture the beauty of Grace Kelly. In fact, the one on the right looks like Hillary Clinton. That was my guess.
Honestly, if I got that doll I would be pretty darn satisfied. It probably costed a fortune. Probably a rare one or something
I love the scar. It makes it stand out from the perfection of a regular doll. How'd he (I'm assuming) get it?
great work but God i hate the teeth am i the only one this makes uncomfortable?!
The eyebrows weren't changed at all, yet it still looks good. The hair looks greasy tho *internally shudders*
It looks like he just bought a new doll....maybe it’s just the lighting
I kinda like the first one better. I thought it was suppose to be realistic? Still looks good tho
Good job but the first looks a little like him but the second, nope!
WTF have you done to Jacob?! I love him in the Twilight series, and this does not look like him in my opinion. It is good work, yes but not Jacob!
This dude looks so gay and I love It (I don't know how it is so like, don't blame me!)
Honestly, the right looks like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory thooo
The hair is Bella Swan, but the nose is too big and long, her eyes are too big and round and should be more cat to almond shaped, the color was good tho. The forehead is a little too high and face a little bit too long.
Don't know why you're getting downvoted.. I think you're spot on!
Load More Replies...The doll on the left looks like Kristen. The doll on the right looks nothing like her.
Nope. Nothing like Katy Perry. Neither the before or after.
They are mostly good works. I especially like the Rihanna ones. While for some other celebrities the originals still resembled the people they represented, the Rihanna originals were really not recognisable at all, in my opinion. But this artist made her always spot on.
This is amazing! It must be so hard to paint so realistically and with so much detail on such a small, non-flat surface
I LOVED ALL of your work! You made them all look human. Their colorings are perfect and shading is stunning!
Amazing how many of these have good facial structure under the bad paint.
Unfortunately I am not convinced that he repainted the original dolls due to the different mouths and eyes. It is like he used other doll heads. A good artist regardless.
Super impressive! It made me think of before and after sims 4 cc!
