Anne Hathaway’s Oscars Appearance Sparks Wild Reactions As Fans Notice Something Off
Anne Hathaway is no stranger to attracting attention with her appearance — most of the time for the better, though, not always.
The actress took the 2026 Oscars stage on Sunday, March 15, in a Valentino dress, looking youthful as ever, but many social media users attributed her ageless visage to cosmetic enhancements.
“She looks botoxed,” commented one, while another asked, “Has Anne Hathaway had plastic surgery?”

Hathaway accompanied Vogue boss Anna Wintour on the Oscars stage, and the duo presented the Best Costume Award to Kate Hailey for Frankenstein, but some viewers fixated on the actress’s appearance instead.
“What did Anne Hathaway do to her face and why?” wondered a critic on X, while another wrote, “The new face of Anne Hathaway is a mixture of the face of the young Renée Zellweger and Katherine Heigl.”

“Oh, it’s called a facelift,” shared a third, while a fourth theorized, “She may have had a very subtle eyelid operation.”
“Her face looks weird. She is almost unrecognizable,” a fifth commented, leading another to add, “Her face looks frozen.”
Not every comment on the internet was against Hathaway, though

“I think she looked one of the best there. She’s a beauty,” a fan wrote, adding, “Those who are trying to put her down are just envious donkeys.”
“She looked amazing, like she always does. It’s not easy being a woman and being analyzed for looking good,” a second noted.

A third, meanwhile, attributed Hathaway’s lifted look to “having her hair pulled back,” further expressing delight that her face at least did not look like “celebs on Oz*mpic.”

“Haters are gonna hate,” echoed the next.
Even if she has had work done, “that is exactly how one should look” after it, said someone else, asking Hathaway to share her surgeon’s contact.

There is too much of this on BP. Too skinny, too fat, looks old, horrible fashion. Does it really matter ? People change with time, they have bad days when how how they look is not their first concern. Do any of us really have the right or moral high ground to criticise how someone looks ? Then we are not happy when someone looks good!! Who cares if it was surgery or both. She looks happy and healthy. Let's not be so superficial please

If she had 'work' done to her face, she has the very best results I have ever seen. I don't believe she's done anything but take care and is genetically blessed. Most surgery takes a year to relax and even out.

Why do so many people always feel the need to have an opinion about something? Let everyone just do what they want. Let them be thin, fat, young, old, rich, poor, or whatever. As long as they don't harm anybody I just hope it makes them happy.

She's 43. Her face is not going to look the same from 20 years ago. I think she looks amazing as always. The comments from the men are gross. I'm sure Anne doesn't care in the least bit, probably would be relieved, that one guy doesn't find her s******y attractive anymore. It's not like he ever had a chance.

Hi, I’m from LA and while I haven’t had more than Botox, I do chat extensively with my friends (one being one of best facial plastic surgeons in the US, she’s amazing). In case anyone is wondering, it was an eyelid lift and injections that she’s had done. She looks absolutely incredible and whoever she went to, she should really give Bradley Cooper their name bc he could really use a referral.

Being a celebrity is a job and, just like any other job, if you want to be relevant, you have to keep up with progress and trends. Most professionals school (get certified or other licenses) themselves throughout the years to always stay on top. For actors and performers, it's their body type and face that gets them a job (at first glance), so they have to do "work" that most of us find unnecessary in OUR lives and/or jobs.

The only thing I see is a light missing from her eyes. Like she is smiling in spite of feeling some intense sadness. I will not speculate on the potential causes of her internal emotional state.

If a celebrity naturally ages, they get crapped on for looking aged, and "they should get botox". If they take care of themselves and age beautifully, they get accused of using cosmetic surgery and "they should accept that it's natural to age." Celebrities cannot win. I always feel bad for them. The point of acceptable perfection is so so small.

I think her eyebrows are just shaped a bit differently than they normally are, plus she has on like full glam makeup and that’s super rare to see on her. I think that’s one of the main reasons people think she looks different. I didn’t recognize her at first either, but I honestly think it’s the eyebrows and makeup. Regardless, she just gets more beautiful with age. 😍
