There is a reason why a dog is perceived as man's best friend. Sometimes they're fun, goofy, and mischievous while at other times, they can be serious, intelligent, and understanding. They're the best boys (and girls!) and many would argue that they are the best pets out there.
No matter the number of positive aspects canines as a species possess, there is one unfortunate downside. Dogs, just like most of the other animals, don't live forever. They age and get sick and slow down. The upside? Pups don't really care about it! Even if they're getting old and their fur is turning grey, they play and love and enjoy life just as much as they did when they were puppies. And even if most people say that lil' baby dogs are when they're the most adorable, we'd like to argue that senior dogs are just as cute. You think you'd disagree? Take a look at these precious dogs who have lived their lives to the fullest and are now enjoying a well-deserved 'retirement'. Oh, and don't forget to comment and vote for your favorites!

Omg, so beautiful. i've had dogs all my life. I'm a senior now and I foster senior dogs. My last one, Harley, a Shitzu, passed away earlier this year. I had him 5+ yrs. He was loved and spoiled beyond belief. I haven't cried that hard in a long long time. Harley was my gift from God. I currently have Snuggles, a 6 lb white Poodle, who wants to be in my lap 24/7, and I love it! This little guy's owner passed away and the relatives didn't want him and they abused him. When Kim first brought him to me you couldn't touch him without him yelping. Now, with tons of love and care I can touch him anywhere and he doesn't yelp. He's a happy little camper now. And boy does he love strawberry wafer cookies!!

I used to walk mine and then I'd have to pick her up and carry her home cause she could only go one way. She was 55lbs but I loved her with all my heart

I have used an old pushchair to push mine around before they passed on, i will do it again soon as one of my boys is getting on, he's 13 and i can see him struggling just a little bit now.

Maybe the Grandad just can't give her as much attention anymore because he's getting older himself. But other than that, you're totally right, getting a pet is a lifelong commitment, and it shouldn't end or get less just because the pet gets older and "boring"

I'd assume that dogs with pointed ears tend to have more wolf-like traits in general (?) and thus look more "adult". Might not be the ears as such, but smaller eyes, longer snout... a lot of the dog breeds look even more puppy-like than wolf puppies (cubs?); and baby-like == cute.

I have three doggos. Two are small young dogs who get a lot of attention. The third is a big old dog who is my role model. Once when I was having a migraine headahe and couldn’t open the advil case, she chewed off the lid so i could get the advil. I love my dog so freaking much and old dogs are the best dogs :D

Ok thank you so much for caring for him, but he can't stand very well because he's at least 10 lbs overweight. You would be doing him a huge favor and extending his life if you put him on a diet. Please, I'm not trying to be mean. It's so important for arthritic legs for their weight to be in a normal range.

A colleague of mine told me that when she got a new puppy, her old dog got super energized. The old dog had kind of started to fade away, but when she got a new puppy playing around, it was like another life for the senior dog.

I would carry him in too. I think though I would ask if he would like to wee wee first and stomp down a bit of snow so he could go and then pick him up and get yelled at by my husband because I always throw my hips out of place and need to be picked up to walk too. But I would do what I said I would do anyway.

This handsome devil is my big baby, Monty. He's turning 13 next month and his two favourite things are Mommy & food... not particularly in that order. Thanks to the awesome CBD treats he's been getting for about 3 months now, his arthritis is in check & he's actually starting to jump up all the time again! Him & his brother are how I'm able to get out of bed every day. :) Monty1-5ce...2670ad.jpg
