Nanay and Tatay were poor and did not have much. But it was enough to change one child’s life. The couple from the Philippines adopted a little boy and gave him everything they could. And even though their life wasn’t easy as he was growing up, Jayvee Lazaro Badile II became a successful man. As he was climbing up the social ladder, Jayvee vowed he would provide a much better life to the two people who loved him more than themselves. So he did.

In a Facebook post that eventually went viral, Jayvee shared a collage of photos with his adoptive parents. “Nanay is a vendor, Tatay is a porter,” he wrote. “Now that I have the chance to give back to them, I will make sure they will live their dreams better than what they could ever imagine.”

“I was 3 months old when Nanay and Tatay adopted me,” Jayvee told Bored Panda. “Life was very difficult. I had to be working as a student, and we were happy if Na got to make 2 meals a day. On top of that, we lived in a 20-square-meters (215 square foot) apartment.”

I'm sure that they are marvelous parents, and he says they have been wonderful in the story. I wasn't trying to make light of this at all. I feel that they would have to have be very special for him to honor them the way that he has. The entire story is very moving. They are a very special family to have so much love between them.
This has a two fold added benefit. If the birth parents that gave you up were heartbroken and torn about letting you go, this is a way to show them they made the right decision because you thrived beyond what they probably hoped. But if your birth parents ditched you because they just didn't want you...then you get sweet revenge by showing them what they missed out on. Hats off to this young man for going above and beyond and for the parents that did the same.
The fact that he still spends a lot of time with them and takes holidays with them is even cuter than the house.
I wonder what kind of job he has that earns so well he could do this.
Building a villa like that costs a lot less in Asia than the West too so that definitely helps.

Beautiful story, but they didn't really need to add "adoptive" more than once. Adoptive parents are just parents. Once context is established, call them "parents".
I think it is important here, due to the fact that his parents went above and beyond taking him in. They could barely scrape by, and they opened their hearts and home to this young man.
Here in the US, we're so hung up on race/skin colour, that we're asked if we are adopted regardless, as we don't look like our 'parents' or extended family. -Dr M, adult adoptee

People are commenting on how stoic his parents are. That is just that generational and cultural differences. My mom is older and she never smiles in pictures or shows affection for others to see... it's not that they don't love him or are embarrassed, that's the way they were taught. If you look at a family album, I'm sure lost pics from the last century have very little smiling or affection.
This is a beautiful story, but I have to ask - if you're building a home for your parents, expecting that this is where they'll grow old, why so many stairs?!
If he has that kind of money, when that time comes, I'm sure he'll remodel and add an elevator. Don't be a downer.

I love being from a Filipino background. My family always takes care of the older generation and shows respect in as many ways as we can. The family lives very close together, if not in the same house and I'm sure there are many stories like this, although not on the same scale.... Salamat!

I always wanted to give my late Mother her dream home and take her on trips where she always wanted to go, unfortunately she passed away in 2010 from complications after her last knee surgery at 61. And I miss her everyday. 😔♥️ ~~~•~~~ So now when I go to any country she wanted to visit, I take some of her ashes and leave a little bit of her everywhere she wanted to go. 😊Ireland, Sweden, Scotland, Paris, France and Great Wall in China so far...

What on earth does this kid now do that he can afford this? It's great he didnt' forget his parents. Can you imagine living in that situation, yet willing to share what little you have to take in someone else's child and make him your own? Those parents are very, very awesome.

Despite living so far away & difference in religion& culture now, he never forget his root & family. Always admire him...

happiness is not always living in a big house or buying expensive things - they must have had close friends and a social network there that gave them much, and jobs that supported them and gave them pride. Now they'll be uprooted from their known surroundings and in a totally new world. I truly hope that when he goes back to his own success they will be happy and content where he placed them.

I want to meet this man so I can hug him and thank him for proving that not all human beings are self-absorbed scumbags. And then I want to hug his adoptive parents for being such excellent human beings that, even with effectively nothing, they demonstrated the kindness and ethical centre throughout the years of raising him that led him to become said excellent human being.

No, the old house shows who they WERE. The new house shows who they are NOW. Nothing wrong with this. The old house will stay one of those cherished memories that you don't wanna go back to.

Cool, as long as nanay and tatay aren't torn from their old neighbourhood & friendships, dumped in a gated community where everybody looks down on them for having been poor... Happiness depends on friendship for most, so careful not to break that.

In some cultures, public displays of affection are considered bad manners. But in this case, there are several pictures where the parents have their arms around his back at the waist.
